What’s In The Box? August 3-9

Summer BBQ
Welcome the hot, sunny days of August with a lineup of favorites fit for munching, mingling and lingering around the barbecue, from dry-grill rub, slow-simmered beans and spicy-smoky garlic pepperoncini sausages to our signature cherry-almond topping to pair with beautifully-ripe summer cherries. Featuring a selection of produce that includes sweet red peppers, cherry tomatoes, filet green beans and cucumbers, plus Kalamata olive bread and rich crème fraîche, this week’s lineup is bright and summer-fresh—enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Double DD Meats Garlic Pepperoncini Sausage

Family owned and run since 1955, Mountlake Terrace butchery Double DD Meats only carries naturally raised meats. This includes this week’s fantastic sausage, which is spiced with garlic and pepperoncini for a smoky-spicy kick of flavor.

Housemade BBQ Beans

Our take on the American classic, these slow-simmered beans are handcrafted in our farmhouse kitchen and spiced with ketchup, mustard and just a touch of brown sugar.

House-Blend Dry Grill Rub

Made with a mixture of savory spices including garlic, thyme and smoked sea salt, our house-blend is excellent rubbed on chicken, beef, fish and even seasonal vegetables—think peppers, onions or carrots!

Kalamata Olive Bread

Baked just for us by our favorite small bakery in Snohomish, this Kalamata olive loaf is great freshly warmed from the oven—brush a little water on top before reheating to ensure a crispy crust!

Bellafina Prosecco

Produced by Bellafina Winery in Veneto, Italy, this sparkling wine is intensely aromatic and crisp on the palate, with aromas and flavors of yellow apple, white peach, pear and notes of white flowers. Excellent as an aperitif, it is a perfect accompaniment to hors-d’oeuvres, salads and other summery first courses.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. As we hit midsummer, the “girls” are enjoying the long summer afternoons and accompanying warm evenings, chasing bugs and eating tasty green weeds we pull from the garden.

Housemade Crème Fraîche

Crafted in our farmstead creamery from pasteurized organic sweet cream, this rich crème fraîche is delicious incorporated into a silken dressing for crisp summer veggies—see recipes for details.

Cherry-Almond Fruit Crisp Topping

Wonderful paired with this week’s summery cherries, our signature fruit crisp topping is crafted from organic cane sugar, ground almonds, sweet butter, and dried cherries.

Ripe Summer Fruit

Sweetheart cherries, lemons, ripe blueberries and fresh figs.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes orange carrots, red and gold cherry tomatoes, sweet onions, broccolini, Asian cucumbers, baby golden beets, Romanesco zucchini, sweet red peppers and filet green beans.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Beautiful Little Gem Romaine

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fresh Italian parsley, mint and garlic. Also included this week: Fragrant flowering dill!
