What’s In The Box? March 22-28

Springtime Brunch
The flavors of spring continue to delight, this week in a produce-packed brunch featuring organic Italian sausage, locally-crafted oat and pecan breakfast cookies and farm-fresh eggs to fry, poach or scramble as you please. Accented by bittersweet chocolate Bosc pear sauce, moist cinnamon raisin bread and colorful produce including Cara Cara oranges, Oyster mushrooms and spring onions, this breakfast is fit for a leisurely gathering—complete with a bottle of crisp Prosecco to share.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Double DD Meats Italian Chicken Sausage

Family owned and run since 1955, Mountlake Terrace butchery Double DD Meats only carries naturally raised meats. This includes this week’s flavorful sausage, which is made from organically-raised Draper Valley Farm chickens fed a vegetarian diet sans hormones and antibiotics.

Fresh Raisin Bread

Made with natural starter, cinnamon and moist, chewy Flame raisins, this freshly-baked loaf is from our favorite bakery in nearby Snohomish.

Snohomish Bakery Breakfast Cookies

Also crafted by the Snohomish Bakery, these oat cookies boast a delightful crunch courtesy of the addition of toasted pecans—try dunking these delightful bites in your morning cup of joe!

Mille Prosecco Millesimato Extra-Dry DOC

Fabulously lively and light at every glass, this extra-dry Italian Prosecco is wonderful mixed into morning mimosas thanks to a bouquet of apple and pear notes as well as hints of light citrus.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Spending their time dodging raindrops on wet spring days, our heritage breed laying hens are now also enjoying the tasty green popweed we pull from the garden, in turn supplying us with eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green.

Grana-Style Cheese

This hard Grana-style cheese is crafted from part-skim cow’s milk to allow for longer aging of 24 months or more. Wonderful grated over scrambled eggs, the drum-shaped cheese is turned and rubbed with olive oil during aging to create a smooth, golden rind.

Girl Meets Dirt Bittersweet Chocolate Bosc Pear Sauce

Sourced from a few gorgeous Bosc pear trees from a legacy Orcas Island orchard, this pourable preserve from Orcas Island-based Girl Meets Dirt is made made simply with pears, Scharffen Berger 70% bittersweet chocolate and just the right squeeze of lemon.

Fresh Fruit

Cara Cara oranges and lemons.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Beautiful baby spinach greens.

Oyster Mushrooms

Locally-foraged Oyster mushrooms, which boast a beautifully meaty and mellow flavor when cooked in a little butter or chicken stock.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes broccolini, yellow onions, baby red potatoes, Swiss chard and spring onions.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fresh Italian parsley, thyme, shallots and garlic.
