What’s In The Box? October 18-24

Rise n’ Shine
The flavors of fall continue to delight, this week in a healthy brunch featuring a beautiful array of fall-fresh produce—earthy Chanterelle mushrooms; pretty pink French breakfast radishes; turnips, potatoes and more—plus organic breakfast sausages and farm-fresh eggs to scramble, poach or fry as you please. Accented by multigrain bread, seasonal cookies and a beautiful assortment of Bella Luna orchard apples, this breakfast is fit for a leisurely gathering—enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Breakfast Sausage Links

With a flavor that hints of maple and spices, this incredible breakfast sausage is made from all-natural pork raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley. These pampered pigs roam outdoors in certified-organic pastures to root and dig, thriving on a diet of flaxseed, corn and wheat.

Chanterelle Mushrooms

With a firm texture and light, delicate flavor, locally foraged Chanterelle mushrooms shine in a variety of dishes, lending earthy appeal to dishes like pastas, risottos and soups. Or, try tossing them in with your favorite roasted vegetable or scrambled eggs!

Fresh Multigrain Bread

Made in downtown Snohomish by our favorite local bakery, this round loaf is made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and 7 different whole grains, plus honey and toasted sunflower seeds.

Le Brun Brut Cidre de Bretagne

Le Brun hard ciders have been produced in Brittany, France since 1955 and are made using the traditional method of natural fermentation of pure pressed juices from hand-picked apples. This particularly-crisp cider features a sweetness that is nicely balanced by a moderate acidity and light tannins, plus a beautiful woody finish.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the shorter days of fall, the girls are up with the sun to roam the outdoors where they still enjoy the pleasant afternoons.

Seasonal Fruit

A beautiful sampling of ripe fall apples from the Bella Luna orchards, including Macoun, Honey Crisp, Gala and Golden Russet varieties.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Mixed salad greens and Treviso radicchio.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes mixed heirloom tomatoes, golden Italian frying peppers, French Breakfast radishes, Hakurei turnips, celery, sweet Walla Walla onions, Romanesco broccoli, Amarosa fingerling potatoes and green beans.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Italian parsley, garlic, sage and thyme.

Festive Sugar Cookies

Beautifully-decorated sugar cookie “pumpkins” in honor of the season!
