What’s In The Box? April 11-17

Cozy Weekend Brunch
Rise and shine, it’s breakfast time! As the April showers continue so do the fresh flavors of spring, this week in a produce-packed brunch starring Skagit River Ranch’s nitrate-free bacon, our own housemade granola and sweet, nutty pancakes crafted from a locally-made heirloom grain mix. Complemented by other breakfast-ready ingredients such as homemade jam, cinnamon-raisin bread and farm-fresh eggs, this week’s box also includes French Breakfast radishes and Shiitake mushrooms, plus spicy microgreens and salad burnet—so pour some mimosas and gather round.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Bluebird Grain Farms Organic Emmer Pancake Mix

This fantastic mix from a plow-to-package grain farm located in Winthrop, Washington yields sweet, nutty heirloom grain pancakes that are high in fiber, protein and B vitamins—not to mention utterly delicious!

Skagit River Ranch Bacon

Smoky, salty and savory, this locally-sourced bacon is also nitrate-free. The pampered pigs raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro Woolley roam outdoors in certified-organic pastures to root, dig, and cavort as only happy pigs can, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

Housemade Granola

Our granola is hand-crafted in the farmhouse kitchen with toasted pepitas, sunflower seeds, oats and local honey—fantastic served with berries and Greek yogurt, splashed with cold milk or sprinkled on top pancakes for a delightful crunch.

Fresh Cinnamon-Raisin Bread

Made with natural starter, cinnamon and moist, chewy Flame raisins, this freshly-baked loaf is from our favorite bakery in nearby Snohomish.

Sauk Farm Honeycrisp Apple Cider

Crafted from cold-pressed Honeycrisp apples grown on Sauk Farm in Concrete, Washington, this refreshing cider is delicious served crisp and cold all on its own, or when mixed into your next cocktail.

Mille Prosecco Millesimato Extra-Dry DOC

Fabulously lively and light at every glass, this extra-dry Italian Prosecco is wonderful mixed into morning mimosas thanks to a bouquet of apple and pear notes as well as hints of light citrus.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms on nice days, our heritage breed laying hens are also thoroughly enjoying a bounty of sprouting seeds and spring popweed, in turn supplying us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of blues, green and brown.

Blueberry Jam

Our housemade jam is crafted from juicy Northwest blueberries hand-picked each morning during peak season. To preserve the wonderful fresh flavor and color, we make this jam with blueberries, organic cane sugar, fresh-squeezed lemon juice and pectin.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Enjoy a bevy of spring greens this week: Spicy microgreens, sorrel and Dandelion greens.

Shiitake Mushrooms

With their curled umbrella-shaped caps and tender thin stalks, Shiitake mushrooms release a garlic-pine aroma when cooked and boast a rich, earthy flavor.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables & Fruit

This week’s produce selection also includes French Breakfast radishes, cauliflower, Hakurei turnips, parsnips, leeks, red beets and Satina potatoes, plus Pink Lady apples.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Italian parsley, mint, thyme and shallots from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms. Also included: Salad burnet, a perennial herb known for its crisp, clean, cucumber-like flavor.
