What’s In The Box? April 4-10

Southern Classics
From fresh cornbread and pimento cheese to classic red beans and basmati rice paired with spicy Andouille sausage, the soulful flavors of the South await this week, blending beautifully with Pacific Northwest produce like pea tendrils, Hakurei turnips and spring rhubarb. This comforting box also features sweet pickled vegetables, Challah bread and fresh-cut daffodils to complement this most-classic, down-home spread.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Andouille Sausage

From the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Wooley, this classic Cajun sausage adds kick to any dish. Slice and add to the Red Beans and Rice or serve alongside. Enjoy!

Red Beans with Skagit River Ranch Andouille Sausage

Our version of the classic Southern staple is crafted from a tomato base containing premium red beans, peppers, onions and fragrant spices, all slow-simmered with Bella Luna chicken stock in our farmhouse kitchen. For extra kick, we have added ground Andouille sausage and side bacon made from the all-natural pork raised at Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley.

Basmati Rice

Serve this week’s spicy red beans over cooked, long-grain rice to finish the dish!

Pimento Cheese Spread

The Southern classic! Made with sharp Cheddar cheese, pimentos and fresh herbs, this housemade spread is delicious slathered on bread or crackers.

Farm & Larder Cornbread Mix

Our signature mix produces a classic, old-fashioned-style cornbread with the natural sweetness of corn. Best baked in a preheated cast-iron skillet until golden brown, then topped with honey butter!

Challah Bread

Baked just for us by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this fresh loaf boasts a sweet, rich flavor thanks to a traditional base of silky eggs and Shepherd’s Grain flour, plus a touch of sugar.

Grayson Cellars 2017 California Zinfandel Lot 12

This beautiful Zinfandel is crafted from small lots of hand-selected California grapes and features notes of strawberry and raspberry balanced by notes of vanilla and cinnamon spice.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms on nice days, our heritage breed laying hens are also thoroughly enjoying a bounty of sprouting seeds and spring popweed, in turn supplying us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of blues, green and brown.

Housemade Pickled Vegetables

Southern-style sweet pickled vegetables made from a beautiful medley of spring produce—it’s the ultimate crunchy snack.

Spring Rhubarb

Bright-red rhubarb with a wonderful tart-sweet flavor.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Peppery arugula and pea tendrils.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables & Fruit

This week’s produce selection also includes red cabbage raab, leeks, Chantenay carrots, baby red beets, Hakurei turnips and yellow onions.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Thyme, rosemary, mint and chives from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.

Fresh-Cut Daffodils

Sunny spring daffodils to brighten your table!
