What’s In The Box? March 28-April 3

Springtime Brunch
There’s nothing quite like a fresh spring morning, the dew sparkling on each blade of grass and the newest garden shoots reaching toward the sky to catch the sometimes-elusive sun. Thus, with fixings like our housemade spinach-bacon-Cheddar frittata, Tunawerth yogurt and cherry-almond cake topping complementing spring-fresh ingredients like microgreens, Romanesco and first-of-the-season rhubarb, this week’s breakfast-themed box greets the morning with similar enthusiasm—so pop open a bottle of bubbly Brut Cava and enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Housemade Frittata

Crafted in the farmhouse kitchen with eggs laid by our flock of heritage-breed hens, plus iron-rich spinach greens, mushrooms, smoky bacon and rich Cheddar cheese, this light and lovely frittata is one easy entrée—simply reheat in a 350° oven for about 20-25 minutes or until warmed through, then cut it into generous wedges and serve.

Pumpernickel Bread

Baked fresh just for us by a small bakery in nearby Snohomish, this slightly-sweet rye bread loaf is wonderful served alongside this week’s frittata and a spring-fresh salad.

Torre Oria Brut Cava

This standout sparkling wine is made from 100-percent Macabeo grapes. Bone dry with fine bubbles and tastes of lemons, sage and apple, it is absolutely delicious on its own or in a great spring cocktail like the classic French 75.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Spending their time dodging raindrops on wet, spring days, our heritage breed laying hens are now also enjoying the tasty green popweed we pull from the garden, in turn supplying us with eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green.

Tunawerth Yogurt

Rich, silky yogurt made by a small, family-run dairy in Tenino, Washington.

Cherry-Almond Topping

Our signature cake topping adds the perfect finishing touch to a springtime rhubarb-apple cake (see recipes for details!) and is crafted from organic cane sugar, ground almonds, sweet butter and dried cherries.

Girl Meets Dirt Brandied Pink Pearl Apple Preserves

This brilliantly-hued jam from Orcas Island-based Girl Meets Dirt is made with Pink Pearl apples, organic cane sugar, organic lemon juice and a splash of Orcas Distillery’s aged apple brandy—delicious!

Spring Rhubarb

The first of the season, this bright-red rhubarb boasts a wonderful tart-sweet flavor.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Peppery arugula, microgreens and baby spinach.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables & Fruit

This week’s produce selection also includes Romanesco, baby carrots, broccolini, golden beets and baby red potatoes, plus Pink Lady apples.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Italian parsley and chives from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.
