What’s In The Box? December 14-20

Holiday Brunch
Take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle this week by lingering over a warm and cozy brunch that stars smoky, locally-sourced bacon, fresh German stollen and cinnamon-raisin breads, farm-fresh eggs, and crisp Honeycrisp apple cider. This lovely lineup also includes such seasonal favorites as Brussels sprouts, D’Anjou pears, Lady apples and beautiful braising greens, as well as a trio of dreamy delights from our own creamery—herbed fromage blanc, compound butter and silky crème fraîche. Pour yourself a hot cup of coffee, break out the breakfast skillet, and enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Bacon

The perfect compliment to this week’s brunch fare, this smoky, locally-sourced bacon is also nitrate-free. The pampered pigs raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro Woolley roam outdoors in certified-organic pastures to root, dig, and cavort as only happy pigs can, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

Fresh Stollen & Cinnamon-Raisin Bread Loaves

Traditional German Stollen fruit loaf and sweet cinnamon-raisin bread from our favorite local bakery in Snohomish.

Island Time Coffee Salish Orca Blend

Crafted specifically for the Northwest aesthetic, Island Time Coffee Company sources only the finest, farm-direct, sustainable coffee beans from Latin America and Indonesia. All of the Whidbey Island company’s coffee is small-batch roasted, ensuring the best possible freshness, and this particular medium roast composed of Vienna and Italian-roasted coffee beans brews up a flavorful and smoky cup of joe.

Mille Prosecco Millesimato Extra-Dry DOC

Fabulously lively and light at every glass, this extra-dry Italian Prosecco features a bouquet of apple and pear notes as well as hints of light citrus.

Farm Fresh Eggs

As they spend more time snug in their coop, our heritage breed laying hens are enjoying an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet, and continue to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Bellsong Creamery Trio

This week, enjoy not one, not two, but three delightful products crafted right here in our creamery: Rich and silky crème fraîche made from pasteurized organic sweet cream; a wonderfully-creamy and just-slightly-tangy fromage blanc kissed with farm-fresh herbs; plus, our beautiful compound butter.

Sauk Farm Honeycrisp Apple Cider

Crafted from cold-pressed Honeycrisp apples grown on Sauk Farm in Concrete, Washington, this refreshing cider is delicious served warm for brunch.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Treviso radicchio, red and green Belgian endive, green Bibb lettuce and a beautiful mix of braising greens.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes leeks, fingerling potatoes, Winter Luxury winter squash, Black Oyster mushrooms and Brussels sprouts, plus oranges, lemons, a sweet basket of Lady apples, D’Anjou pears and Burnt Ridge Orchards kiwis. (One tip: These kiwis will arrive underripe, so leave them out on the counter for a few days to soften up; or for even faster ripening, place them in a paper bag along with a few of this week’s apples!)

Fresh Garden Herbs

Thyme and parsley from the walled garden and hoophouse at Bella Luna Farms.
