What’s In The Box? January 30 – February 5
Gather ‘Round the Raclette
This week, gather around to share a rustic and homey meal by the way of the Swiss Alps: Raclette using our own Bella Rossa cheese and served up warm, melty, and draped over seasonal produce such as mixed red and yellow baby potatoes, sweet red onions, and hearty turnips. Also included in this cozy lineup: Fresh multigrain bread, eggs from our heritage breed hens, an array of winter citrus, crisp apples, and a medley of radicchio and salad greens. Enjoy!
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Bellsong Creamery Bella Rossa Cheese
Handcrafted at Bella Luna Farms and aged over 60 days, this washed-rind raw cow’s milk cheese is an homage to the great Alpine cheeses of Italy. Crafted from whole raw cow’s milk, our Bella Rossa is particularly well-suited for raclette as it becomes wonderfully melty when warmed. Unlike a fondue, which is a dip, this traditional dish from the Swiss Alps is melted, then served over the accompaniments like cooked potatoes, cured meats, and pickled vegetables; see recipes for a full how-to!
Multigrain Bread & Morning Glory Muffins
Crafted in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this healthy freshly-baked loaf is made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds. Also included in your delivery: Healthful and hearty muffins made with cinnamon, vanilla, crushed pineapple and finely-grated carrots.
Côté Mas Rosé Aurore Sud de France
Aromatic with cherry, strawberry and floral aromas evolving toward soft candied fruit notes, this refreshing French Rosé is crafted from a combination of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah grapes. The palate is rich and smooth with ripe red fruits and a well-balanced acidity, making it a lovely aperitif or pairing for produce and salads.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs each day in beautiful shades of brown, cream and green. As they spend more time snug in their coop during the chilly winter months, the “girls” are also enjoying extra helpings of grain and fresh greens to supplement their diet.
Housemade Crème Fraîche
Our rich and silky crème fraîche is crafted in our farmstead creamery from pasteurized organic sweet cream.
Organic Greens
Salad mix, plus a beautiful assortment of winter chicories: Chioggia, Costarossa and Treviso radicchio.
Seasonal Fruit
Blood oranges, Cara Cara oranges, and Meyer lemons, plus Pink Lady and Winecrisp apples.
Seasonal Organic Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes: Baby red and yellow potatoes, yellow onions, red onions and Hakurei and purple top turnips.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Thyme and rosemary from the walled garden.
