What’s In The Box? July 20-26

Summer Brunch
Locally-grown blueberries, heirloom tomatoes and summer squash: This week’s brunch-themed box is packed with some of the season’s all-time best produce, served up alongside such morning time favorites as Skagit River Ranch’s breakfast sausages, freshly-baked cinnamon-raisin bread, locally-roasted coffee and eggs from our heritage breed hens. Also accented by salad-ready escarole greens, soft amaretti cookies, living Genovese basil, sugar snap peas, orange carrots, Persian cucumbers, and much more, this lineup will have your day off to a great start. Enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Breakfast Sausage

With a flavor profile that includes hints of sweet maple syrup and savory spices, these incredible breakfast sausages are made from the all-natural pork raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley. These pampered pigs roam outdoors in certified-organic pasture land to root and dig, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

Cinnamon Raisin Bread

Baked just for us by our favorite local bakery, this fresh-baked cinnamon raisin loaf makes for a delicious base to French toast.

Locally-Grown Blueberries

Freshly-picked ripe blueberries.

Island Time Coffee Island Sunset French Roast

Crafted specifically for the Northwest aesthetic, Island Time Coffee Company sources only the finest, farm-direct, sustainable coffee beans from Latin America and Indonesia. All of the Whidbey Island company’s coffee is small-batch roasted, ensuring the best possible freshness, and this particular dark-roasted blend is smooth, dark and tangy, with an assertive smoky aroma.

Casas del Bosque Pinot Noir Rosé 2022

This single vineyard Rosé is made with Pinot Noir grapes planted on the “Las Dichas” side of Casablanca Valley, the coolest, westernmost reach of Chile. A very pale hue of pink, it is delicately fruity with hints of strawberries and petrichor, and dry on the palate with ample body and refreshing acidity.

Farm Fresh Eggs

As they spend lots of time outdoors in their run, our small flock of heritage breed laying hens are enjoying succulent popweed pulled from the gardens along with an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Fresh Organic Greens

Escarole greens.

Heirloom Tomatoes

It’s time! The first of the local heirloom tomatoes are here, and they are just waiting to be enjoyed.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables

This week’s beautiful selection of summer produce also includes Ronde de Nice summer squash, sugar snap peas, Persian cucumbers, fennel, orange carrots and fingerling potatoes, lemons.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Living Genovese basil and Italian parsley.

Amaretti Cookies with Coffee

Accented by freshly-ground coffee notes, these traditional soft, buttery Italian cookies are a wonderful little pick-me-up.
