What’s In The Box? July 25-31
Summer All-Stars
Peaches! Cherries! Radicchio! These long-awaited summer staples are now arriving in abundance, especially those chicories as you’ll enjoy six different varieties of radicchio and endive in this week’s box. Celebrate them in all their glory, as well as other sun-ripened favorites like summer squash, rainbow slicing tomatoes, fragrant herbs, and fennel. Also joining these summer all-stars: Freshly-baked Pain au Levain bread, a wealth of citrus fruit, farm-fresh eggs, and a Portuguese wine. Long live summer!
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Seasonal Radicchio & Endive
Enjoy a beautiful mix of summer chicories this week with a selection that includes: beautifully-speckled di Lusia, bright red Palla Rossa, pink and green-flecked Note Scarlatta, and elongated pale green Virtus radicchio varieties, plus both endive frisée and Belgian red endive.
Pain au Levain Bread
This slightly-nutty, slightly-sweet sourdough bread epitomizes French country-style baking with a chewy crust and light, airy interior. Baked by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this traditional Pain au Levain is crafted using the bakery’s own sourdough starter.
Kranemann Hasso Douro Doc 2019
Named after the winemakers’ family dog, Hasso, this Portuguese wine is produced from three traditional Douro region grape varieties. Easy-going, fruity, and fresh in character, it is dense with blackberry flavors and acidity, making it an excellent choice for all occasions.
Farm Fresh Eggs
As they spend lots of time outdoors in the sunny weather, our heritage breed laying hens continue to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.
Seasonal Organic Greens
In addition to this week’s medley of radicchio, your delivery also includes cantaloupe shoots and sunflower shoots.
Peaches & Cherries
Two summer all-stars are making their debut this week: gorgeous, ripe yellow peaches and juicy Yumi red cherries; these Washington-grown berries are decadently sweet and delicately crisp!
Seasonal Organic Fruit & Produce
This week’s vibrant produce selection also includes Haymaker Farm rainbow slicer tomatoes, fennel and summer squash, plus lemons and limes.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Italian parsley, thyme and rosemary from the walled gardens here at Bella Luna.
