Summer Harvest
As July transitions into August, we have started to reach the pinnacle of summer as a bounty of crops seemingly ripen at once—sweet corn, dark red cherries, crisp lettuce greens, eggplant, summer squash and more. Thus, this week’s box pays tribute to the summer harvest with a beautiful assortment of local produce, plus creamy feta cheese from Harmony Fields, farm-fresh eggs, fragrant herbs and garlic fougasse bread. Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Sweet Cherries

Beautiful, dark red cherries grown right here in Washington.

Garlic Fougasse Bread

Baked just for us at a small bakery in Snohomish, this rustic flatbread is ideal for sharing. Similar in style to traditional focaccia, the artisanal-style loaf is studded with fresh garlic to give it extra depth and flavor.

Harmony Fields Sheep’s Milk Feta

This sirene-style white brine cheese from Harmony Fields situated in the Skagit Valley is made from 100-percent sheep’s milk. Similar to Greek feta with a tart, lemony finish, it has a creamier texture than most feta, with a touch of saltiness that pairs perfectly with salads.

Milbrandt Vineyards 2019 Brothers’ Blend Red

This delicious red wine blend out of the Columbia Valley features aromas of ripe, dark fruit dotted by hints of red fruit on the nose. Additional plum and black cherry highlights make for a fruit-forward finish and soft tannins throughout.

Farm Fresh Eggs

As they spend lots of time outdoors in their run, our small flock of heritage breed laying hens are enjoying succulent popweed pulled from the gardens along with an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

La Boîte Star Anise

A sweet green seed reminiscent of fennel, star anise infuses braises, sauces, and even desserts with nuanced notes of mint and honey.

Fresh Organic Greens

Fancy lettuce mix and Chioggia radicchio.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables

This week’s beautiful bounty of summer produce includes sweet corn, Hakurei turnips, Italian eggplant, mixed summer squash, broccolini, English cucumber, red onions, Walla Walla sweet onions and red radishes.
