What’s In The Box? October 17-23
Packed with Produce
From fennel and French Breakfast radishes to red onions and Cima di Rapa rapini, this week’s box is full of fresh fall provisions! Also including such favorites as sweet potatoes, red onions, celery and sprouting cauliflower, this autumnal splendor is rounded out by fresh-baked Gruyère cheese bread, crunchy peanuts, eggs from our heritage breed hens and beautiful Vanessa grapes, plus fragrant herbs and garden greens. Enjoy!
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Gruyère Cheese Bread
Made in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this freshly-baked loaf balances sweet, nutty Gruyère with a light, crisp crust. Absolutely wonderful re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.
Alvarez Farms Organic Raw Peanuts
Cultivated by a 2nd generation family farm in Mabton, Washington, these crunchy peanuts are perfect for roasting!
Costières de Nimes Campuget Tradition Rosé
Crafted from a blend of Syrah and Grenache Noir grapes, this French rosé boasts a fresh pink color that mimics the particularly fruity taste of raspberries and strawberries on palette. Typical of the Campuget style, it has a good and refreshing acidity.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With shorter days of fall, the girls are up with the sun to roam the outdoors where they still enjoy the warm afternoons. Bedtime is coming much earlier now, as we see them heading into their house to roost as the sun is going down.
Seasonal Organic Greens
Sunflower shoots and a beautiful mix of lettuces.
Fresh Fruit
Beautiful Vanessa grapes and lemons.
Seasonal Organic Vegetables
This week’s vibrant produce selection also includes: Cima di Rapa rapini, cherry tomatoes, sweet potatoes, red onions, sprouting cauliflower, French breakfast radishes, fennel bulb and celery.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Italian parsley and sage from the gardens at Bella Luna.
