What’s In The Box? October 26 – November 1

Good Morning
Rise and shine—it’s breakfast time! This weekend, cozy up to a brunch-themed box that stars such farmhouse favorites as smoky organic bacon, farm-fresh eggs from our heritage breed hens, and hearty and healthful multigrain bread, plus bubbly prosecco, Dick Taylor drinking chocolate and our housemade crème fraîche. Also accented by French Breakfast radishes, purple sprouting broccoli, sweet Italian peppers, pears, kiwi berries and last of the season heirloom tomatoes, this lineup is sure to help you start your day off right.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Bacon

The perfect compliment to this week’s brunch fare, this smoky, locally-sourced bacon is also nitrate-free. The pampered pigs raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro Woolley roam outdoors in certified-organic pastures to root, dig, and cavort as only happy pigs can, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

La Boîte B-Mary Mix

This colorful blend of smoked paprika, celery seeds and spices is great mixed with vodka in a Bloody Mary cocktail, or try tossing it with roasted vegetables for a flavorful kick!

Multigrain Bread

Crafted in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this healthy freshly-baked loaf is made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds.

Mille Prosecco Millesimato Extra-Dry DOC

Fabulously lively and light at every glass, this extra-dry Italian Prosecco features a bouquet of apple and pear notes as well as hints of light citrus.

Housemade Crème Fraîche

This rich and silky crème fraîche is crafted by our in-house farmstead creamery, Bellsong, from pasteurized organic sweet cream.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With shorter days of fall, the girls are up with the sun to roam the outdoors where they still enjoy the warm afternoons. Bedtime is coming much earlier now, as we see them heading into their house to roost as the sun is going down.

Dick Taylor Drinking Chocolate

This rich and velvety European style drinking chocolate from Northern California chocolatier Dick Taylor is handcrafted using ethically sourced cacao beans from the Maya Mountain Co-op in Belize.

Seasonal Fruit

Forelle pears and Michigan state kiwi berries.

Fresh Organic Greens

Italian Bietola butter Swiss chard, Treviso and Lusia radicchio and pea shoots.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection includes last of the season heirloom tomatoes, French Breakfast radishes, Russian Banana fingerling potatoes, purple sprouting broccoli, sweet Italian peppers and Hakurei turnips.

Sculpit

Say what? A common herb in Italy and Spain, but relatively unheard of in North America, sculpit has long, narrow, lance-like leaves that have a delicate, subtle flavor. It’s a touch bitter, like chicory, with a hint of something similar to tarragon, combined with the spice of arugula; enjoy!

Fresh Garden Herbs

This week’s herb selection also includes parsley, thyme and garlic from the walled garden at Bella Luna.
