Alongside autumn all-stars like Romano beans, heirloom tomatoes, zucchini and sweet corn, this week’s delivery trumpets the arrival of another fall favorite: fresh-picked apples from our own orchard here at Bella Luna! Enjoy a fun mixed variety of those this week, as well as beautiful golden Chanterelle mushrooms, Pain au Levain bread, and eggs from our heritage breed laying hens, plus a bevy of fragrant herbs and a bounty of greens that includes pea tendrils, escarole and Chioggia radicchio, all ready to incorporate into your favorite meals of the fall season.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Fresh-Picked Orchard Apples

A beautiful variety of crunchy, juicy fall apples harvested fresh from the orchard here at Bella Luna Farms.

Golden Chanterelle Mushrooms

With a firm texture and light, delicate flavor, these locally-foraged golden Chanterelle mushrooms will impart an earthy appeal to any number of dishes, from risottos to soups.

Pain au Levain Bread

This slightly-nutty, slightly-sweet sourdough bread epitomizes French country-style baking with a chewy crust and light, airy interior. Baked by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this traditional Pain au Levain is crafted using the bakery’s own sourdough starter.

La Fiera Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

This Italian red wine boasts a deep, ruby-red color with violet highlights and a pleasant and fruity bouquet on the palate. The finish is also full-bodied with soft tannins and a good acidity; enjoy!

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With shorter days of fall, the girls are up with the sun to roam the outdoors where they still enjoy the warm afternoons. Bedtime is coming much earlier now, as we see them heading into their house to roost as the sun is going down.

Fresh Organic Greens

This week, enjoy Chioggia radicchio, escarole, pea tendrils and mixed mini lettuce greens in your delivery.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables

This week’s box includes a beautiful bounty of fresh fall produce: sweet corn, Walla Walla sweet onions, Makah Ozette potatoes, heirloom tomatoes, Romano beans, Bellstar tomatoes, Jerada bunched carrots and zucchini.
