How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
Garden-Grown Glories
This lineup celebrates spring in all its glory with an assortment of garden-grown ingredients—red spring onions, radishes, asparagus, purple sprouting broccoli, fennel bulbs, Thumbelina carrots—plus foraged finds like Morel mushrooms and rare seasonal favorites like ramps. Also included: sunflower seed-kissed multigrain bread, eggs from our heritage-breed hens, Jack Mountain Sunday bacon, Washington-made vegan pasta, and housemade apple chutney, plus fragrant herbs, garden-grown greens, and cremoso cheese from our on-farm creamery. To spring!
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Jack Mountain Sunday Bacon
Each smoky strip of dry-cured bacon from this Skagit Valley-based meat company is cut the “old school” way, by hand, and aged for a minimum of eight days. Smoked all day over hazelnut shells, the resulting bacon crisps up beautifully, while still maintaining a big meaty chew.
Wildly Beloved Foods Trottole Pasta
This Italian organic pasta is artfully crafted on Whidbey Island by the woman-owned company, Wildly Beloved. Crafted solely from semolina and water, this beautiful, curlicue pasta is vegan, organic, packaged in compostable materials, and clearly, made to be loved wildly!
Multigrain Bread
Crafted in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this healthy freshly-baked loaf is made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds.
Housemade Apple Chutney
Our signature chutney is made from our own orchard apples, onions, currants, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and warm spices.
Saviah Cellars ‘The Jack’ Chardonnay
This delicious wine from the Columbia Valley opens with scents of pear, apples, and tropical fruit with hints of lemon and vanilla. The palate is fresh, clean and crisp with beautiful balance expressed through flavors of stone fruit and Gala apples.
Bellsong Creamery Cremoso Cheese
Crafted in our on-farm creamery, this soft cheese is made from cow’s milk sourced from a local, third-generation dairy that produces impeccable milk from their mixed herd of Jersey, Brown Swiss, Guernsey and Holstein cows. The flavor is mild, slightly sweet and richly creamy; it’s a light and luscious addition to a cheeseboard!
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens is made up of three breeds: Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware. As they balance their time between foraging in their outdoor run during rain breaks and then snuggling up in their coop in the evenings, they also enjoy produce trimmings and fresh greens to supplement their diet of organic layer mash, and continue to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.
Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s delivery of beautiful spring greens features red sorrel and both red and green baby Romaine lettuces.
Locally Foraged Morel Mushrooms
These seasonal mushrooms are only available in the wild, developing a cult following of local ‘mushroom hunters’ who roam our forests looking for this treat of nature. Woodsy and earthy, yet delicate and rich, they are excellent in pasta, risotto, and egg scrambles, or simply sauté in butter or olive oil and enjoy on their own!
Ramps
These spring onions (also known as wild leeks) have a unique garlic-like aroma and add a wonderful punch to a variety of dishes!
Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes: red spring onions, red radishes, asparagus, purple sprouting broccoli, fennel bulbs and Thumbelina carrots.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Chives and parsley from the walled garden.
