What's in the box this week?

Spring Awakening

With the recent sunshine and pleasant temps, the gardens here at Bella Luna are truly singing of spring and this week heralds the arrival of several seasonal favorites—from ruby-red rhubarb and peppery chives to fragrant tarragon and beautiful purple sprouting broccoli. Enjoy these beloved beauties alongside Gruyère cheese bread, chocolate chunk cookies, our own silky crème fraîche and both duck and chicken eggs, plus more spring asparagus, red radishes, garden-grown greens, and juicy citrus fruit; enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Spring Rhubarb
This week, enjoy a true hallmark of spring—first of the season rhubarb in all its bright-red, sweet-tart glory!

Gruyère Cheese Bread & Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Made in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this freshly-baked loaf balances sweet, nutty Gruyère with a light, crisp crust. Absolutely wonderful re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes. Also included in your delivery and handmade by the same bakery: Rich, decadent chocolate chunk cookies!

Tortoise Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
This beautiful Cabernet from the venerated wine-making area of Lodi, California, is medium bodied with lush dark cherry and blackberry fruit, making it a lovely accompaniment to this week’s spring fare.

Housemade Crème Fraîche
Our rich and silky crème fraîche is crafted in our farmstead creamery from pasteurized organic sweet cream.

Duck Eggs
With near-transparent egg whites and color-rich oversize yolks, these local duck eggs are a chef’s dream, lending flavorful appeal to a variety of dishes.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens is made up of three breeds: Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware. As they balance their time between foraging in their outdoor run during rain breaks and then snuggling up in their coop in the evenings, they also enjoy produce trimmings and fresh greens to supplement their diet of organic layer mash, and continue to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s delivery of beautiful spring greens features dandelion greens, mixed mustard greens, mizuna, radicchio and red Belgian endive.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes: asparagus, white Cippolini onions, red radishes and purple sprouting broccoli, plus Cara Cara and blood oranges.

Garden-Grown Herbs
Chives, lovage and tarragon from the walled garden.
