How it Works

First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.

Farm & Forest

This week’s box is a celebration of spring’s most exciting flavors—from wild and wonderful Morel mushrooms to garden-fresh Little Gem lettuces and bok choy. For a cozy pairing, simmer up a simple potato-leek soup with Huckleberry gold potatoes, sweet leeks, and our rich housemade chicken stock, then serve it alongside warm slices of Beecher’s cheese bread with chives. You’ll also find our silky crème fraîche (perfect for dolloping on that soup), fresh chicken and duck eggs, and a bounty of seasonal produce—from radicchio and bok choy to Hakurei turnips and baby red beets. Top things off with fragrant garden-grown herbs, and you’ve got all the makings of a delicious, comforting spring meal.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Locally Foraged Morel Mushrooms
These seasonal mushrooms are only available in the wild, developing a cult following of local ‘mushroom hunters’ who roam our forests looking for this treat of nature. Woodsy and earthy, yet delicate and rich, they are excellent incorporated into a variety of dishes, or simply sautéed in butter or olive oil and enjoyed on their own with a squeeze of lemon over top.

New Day Baking Beecher’s Cheese Bread with Chives
It’s a match made in bread heaven: This locally-crafted, rustic loaf features Beecher’s signature artisan cheese as well as peppery chives. It is absolutely wonderful toasted in slices or re-warmed as a whole in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.

Island Time Coffee Ferry Lines Blues Blend
Crafted specifically for the Northwest aesthetic, Island Time Coffee Company sources only the finest, farm-direct, sustainable coffee beans from Latin America and Indonesia. All of the Whidbey Island company’s coffee is small-batch roasted, ensuring the best possible freshness.

La Perrière La Petite Perriere Sauvignon Blanc
This highly-rated French wine boasts a pale lemon color and a fresh nose that hints at notes of green melon, grapefruit and white peach.

Duck Eggs
With near-transparent egg whites and color-rich oversize yolks, these local duck eggs are a chef’s dream, lending flavorful appeal to a variety of dishes.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens is made up of three breeds: Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware. As they balance their time between foraging in their outdoor run during rain breaks and then snuggling up in their coop in the evenings, they also enjoy produce trimmings and fresh greens to supplement their diet of organic layer mash, and continue to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Housemade Crème Fraîche
Our rich and silky crème fraîche is crafted in our farmstead creamery from pasteurized organic sweet cream.

Farm & Larder Chicken Stock
Made from roasted Bella Luna chickens, this flavorful stock is simmered slowly for hours with carrots, onions and celery and seasoned with a dash of sea salt.

Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s delivery of beautiful spring greens features radicchio, bok choy and Little Gem lettuces.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes: Huckleberry gold potatoes, baby red beets, red radishes, asparagus, leeks, and Hakurei turnips, plus Cara Cara oranges.

Garden-Grown Herbs
Fresh flat-leaf Italian parsley, tarragon, sweet cicely, chives, oregano, and thyme from the walled garden.

Chocolate Cherry Almond Cookies
Studded with chocolate chips and tart dried cherries, as well as kisses of almond, these fresh-baked cookies are the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.
