How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
Autumn Abundance
This week’s delivery celebrates the rich flavors of fall from both farm and forest. Crisp Fuyu persimmons and orchard-fresh apples and pears bring sweet, sunny notes, while locally foraged Chanterelle mushrooms add earthy depth. Garden-grown herbs, crunchy radicchio greens, and a colorful medley of peppers, fennel, leeks, and romanesco showcase the harvest at its peak, complemented by farm-fresh eggs and artisan bread to round out the table. Each item is a taste of the season, bringing the beauty and bounty of autumn straight to your kitchen.
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Fuyu Persimmons
This week’s delivery includes Fuyu persimmons, a sweet, crisp, and slightly nutty fruit that’s perfect for autumn snacking. Unlike their softer Hachiya cousins, Fuyus can be eaten firm, making them easy to slice and enjoy right out of hand. Their bright orange flesh is delicious in salads, paired with cheese and nuts, or simply drizzled with a touch of honey.
Locally-Foraged Chanterelle Mushrooms
This week’s delivery also includes golden Chanterelle mushrooms. Boasting a buttery aroma and earthy flavor, these Northwest beauties are only available in the wild, developing a cult following of local ‘mushroom hunters’ who roam our forests looking for these treats of nature.
Multigrain Bread
Crafted in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this healthy freshly-baked loaf is made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds.
Dragon’s Head Crimson Gold Cider
This single varietal cider from a family-owned cidery located on Vashon Island is made from a unique cross between an apple and a crabapple and features flavors of tropical fruit and tangerine, with a tart and confectionary finish. It has a semi-dry profile with a full body and is bright and complex in taste.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, and Delawares provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. As fall days shorten, the hens rise with the sun to roam outdoors—and tuck into their coop early each evening to roost.
Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s selection of greens includes a beautiful array of radicchio: Castelfranco, Treviso, and Giallo di Verona (a.k.a. Yellowstone) varieties.
Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes sweet Italian peppers, fennel, honey corn, leeks, sweet onions, and romanesco, as well as Bella Luna orchard apples and pears.
Garden-Grown Herbs
A fragrant mixed bundle of herbs from the walled garden here at Bella Luna.
