How it Works

First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.

Rise, Shine & Savor

There’s something especially inviting about a leisurely breakfast as summer begins to slip into fall. This week’s box has everything for a delicious start: nutty spelt pancakes or waffles alongside savory=-sweet breakfast sausage, farm-fresh eggs, cinnamon raisin bread and freshly roasted coffee. Frisée and baby lettuces join a colorful haul of heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, fennel, cucumbers and Italian zucchini, with parsley and fennel flowers gathered from the farm. Whether you linger over pancakes and coffee or turn the season’s bounty into a late-morning brunch, consider this your invitation to slow down and savor September.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Breakfast Sausage
With a flavor profile that includes hints of sweet and savory spices, these incredible breakfast sausages are made from the all-natural pork raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley. These pampered pigs roam outdoors in certified-organic pasture land to root and dig, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

Chimacum Valley Grainery Spelt Pancake & Waffle Mix
Made with nutrient-rich, high-protein Elwha River Spelt, this ready-to-make mix brings a light, nutty flavor to pancakes, waffles, biscuits and more. The ancient grain was bred at WSU’s Sustainable Systems Lab and named for the Elwha River, where dam removal restored the free flow of the river and salmon through S’Klallam lands. Grown and milled by Chimacum Valley Grainery and already blended with baking powder and salt, it’s an easy—and delicious—reason to fall for breakfast all over again.

Cinnamon Raisin Bread & Cardamom Coffee Cake
Baked just for us by our favorite local bakery, this fresh-baked cinnamon raisin loaf makes for a delicious base to French toast. Also included: Cardamom-spiced coffee cake for sharing around the breakfast table.

Nashi D’Anjou Non-Alcoholic Perry
Crafted by Vashon Island’s Nashi Orchards using 100% organically grown D’Anjou pears from their Sakura Ridge orchard in Hood River, Oregon, this lightly sparkling perry is beautifully balanced with gentle sweetness and a soft, full mouthfeel.

Island Time Coffee Ferry Line Blues Blend
Crafted specifically for the Northwest aesthetic, Island Time Coffee Company sources only the finest, farm-direct, sustainable coffee beans from Latin America and Indonesia. All of the Whidbey Island company’s coffee blends are small-batch-roasted, ensuring the best possible freshness.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware hens provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. These lovely September days still offer plenty of time outdoors, where the hens happily peck, scratch, and forage in the fresh air.

Bella Luna Orchard Fruit
A sweet taste of the season, picked right here at the farm! This week’s box includes crisp apples and beautiful golden-yellow plums from the Bella Luna orchards, ready to enjoy straight from the basket or tucked into your favorite fall recipes. Slice them into salads, simmer into compotes, bake into rustic cakes and crisps, or simply savor out of hand while the orchard harvest lasts.

Seasonal Organic Greens
Frisée, pepper arugula, and baby lettuce greens.

Fresh Organic Fruits & Vegetables
This week’s beautiful bounty of produce includes: Heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, fennel, Marketmore heirloom cucumbers, and Italian heirloom zucchini.

Garden-Grown Herbs
Fresh Italian parsley and fennel flower from the walled garden and middle field here at Bella Luna.
