How it Works

First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.

No matter how you pronounce it, the word ‘tomato’ practically sings of summer, as well it should as the seasonal beauties are now at their best. This week’s box pays homage to the ripe, juicy summer favorite with a selection of heirloom and cherry tomatoes, as well as other sun ripened favorites such as Galia melon, sweet corn and Persian cucumbers. Fragrant lavender and heirloom Oaxacan pepicha bring brightness from the herb garden, plus there’s fresh-baked Pain au Levain bread from Snohomish Bakery, farmstead eggs from our flock of heritage breed hens, and a bevy of garden greens to enjoy, as well.

Here are a few recipe ideas for the week:

Tomatoes!
This week’s colorful and vibrant assortment of summer tomatoes includes colorful heirloom tomatoes, Juliet cherry tomatoes, and Prudens purple tomatoes. Beautiful and ripe, they are all just waiting to be enjoyed in your burgers, sandwiches, salads, pastas, and more.

Summer Melon
Juicy Galia melon grown right here in Snohomish.

Pain au Levain Bread
This slightly-nutty, slightly-sweet sourdough baguette epitomizes French country-style baking with a chewy crust and light, airy interior. Baked by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this traditional Pain au Levain is crafted using the bakery’s own sourdough starter.

Nashi Orchards Non Alcoholic Sparkling Korean Giant Perry
Located on Vashon Island, Nashi Orchards uses sustainable practices to grow the Asian and European pears and heirloom apples that are then handcrafted into award-winning hard ciders and perries. Hand-crafted from Korean Giant Pears, this slightly sparkling beverage contains no added sugars and is pleasantly sweet from the ripe Asian pears.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens is made up of three heritage breeds: Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware. As they spend plenty of time outdoors in the summer sun, they are also enjoying garden trimmings to supplement their diet as they continue to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s incredible delivery of greens features Palla Rossa radicchio, mixed mini lettuces, and endive frisée.

Fresh Organic Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes red onions, Persian cucumbers, and sweet corn.

Garden-Grown Herbs
An assortment of classic culinary herbs from the walled garden, including fragrant culinary lavender, plus heirloom Oaxaca pepicha, a sunny short-lived perennial plant used in Mexican cuisine, where it is often used to flavor meat dishes. It has a strong taste akin to fresh coriander with overtones of lemon and anise.

Dot & Army Bowl Covers
Thoughtfully curated and made in Georgia, this darling set of bowl covers are super versatile, perfect for covering rising dough while making bread, storing a salad to be served later, or to transport cookies or a casserole to bring to a neighbor!
