How it Works

First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.

This week’s box is an ode to hearty, winter-ready flavors and vibrant seasonal produce. From the savory, herb-spiced Skagit River Ranch Italian sausage to Wildly Beloved Foods’ artisanal orzo pasta, you’ve got everything you need for a comforting bowl of pasta, while farm-fresh eggs in shades of green and brown, punchy Häxan vinegar, and fragrant garden herbs like parsley and thyme bring brightness to every dish. Winter chicories, fennel, leeks, carrots, kale, and Cremini mushrooms showcase the season’s bounty, and, to finish, you’ll find a sweet selection of crisp orchard apples, including Macintosh and Winter Crisp. Cozy, flavorful, and fully local—your table this week is bursting with wintery goodness.

Here is what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Italian SausageThe pampered pigs raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley roam outdoors in certified-organic pasture land to root, dig, and cavort as only happy pigs can, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat. Spiced with savory herbs, this delectable Italian-style sausage will add a flavorful, savory note to a hearty bowl of pasta this week.

Wildly Beloved Foods Organic Orzo Pasta
This beautiful pasta is artfully crafted on Whidbey Island by the woman-owned company, Wildly Beloved. These petite orzo are cut to shape from bronze dies and slowly air-dried to ensure exceptional taste and reduced cooking time.

Pain au Levain Bread
This slightly-nutty, slightly-sweet sourdough loaf embodies country-style French baking with a chewy crust and light, airy interior. Baked just for us at a small bakery in Snohomish, the traditional Pain au Levain is crafted using the bakery’s own sourdough starter.

Dragon’s Head Columbia Crabapple Cider
This gorgeous cider from a family-owned cidery located on Vashon Island boasts a bit of sweetness that is countered by the tartness of the crabapple, producing a flavorful delight to the palate.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, and Delawares provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the shorter days of winter, the hens rise with the sun to roam outdoors—and tuck into their coop early each evening to roost.

Häxan Ferments Jyunmai Sake or Rose Wine Vinegar
Seattle-based Häxan Ferments’ punchy vinegars are made in small batches using natural fermentation methods. This week, you’ll find either a Jyunmai Sake or Rose Wine variety in your delivery.

Seasonal Organic Greens
Your box contains a beautiful selection of winter chicories: Rosalba, Castelfranco, Treviso and other mixed varieties of vibrant radicchio, as well as kale.

Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes fennel, leeks, carrots, sweet onions and Cremini mushrooms, plus Meyer lemons and a selection of farm-grown orchard apples, including Macintosh and Winter Crisp varieties.

Garden-Grown Herbs
Italian flat-leaf parsley, garlic and fragrant thyme from the hoophouse and walled garden here at Bella Luna.
