How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
Northwest Meets Southwest
This week’s box takes a flavorful detour to the Southwest while celebrating some of our favorite local producers. Handmade tortillas, Skagit River Ranch chorizo, Central Bean Company’s black beans, fresh salsa, and aged cotija cheese set the stage for taco night, while farm-fresh eggs, seasonal greens, garden cilantro, zucchini, Calabaza Mexicana, green onions, sweet red cherries, and fresh bread come together for a week of colorful, satisfying meals that are just as perfect for a casual Taco Tuesday dinner as they are for weekend entertaining.
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Skagit River Ranch Chorizo Sausage
This pig has kick: Spiced with cumin, coriander and Ancho chili powder, these flavorful sausage links from our friends at the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley are crafted from their famous all-natural pork and make for a spicy addition to any Tex-Mex fare you choose, from tacos to chili to burritos!
Central Bean Co. Dried Black Beans
Grown in the heart of Central Washington, these family-owned, Food Alliance Certified black beans are sustainably raised using identity-preserved farming practices that allow every harvest to be traced from field to fork. With their earthy, slightly sweet flavor and creamy texture, they’re perfect for soups, stews, tacos, grain bowls, or a simple pot of beans simmered with garlic, herbs, and olive oil.
Tortillas Con Madre Flour Tortillas
Crafted from just five simple ingredients—organic artisan flour, water, organic pumpkin oil, sea salt, and non-aluminum baking powder—these street-taco-ready tortillas are made with love according to a treasured recipe by a small, family-run producer based in Lynden, Washington.
Skagit’s Best Salsa Company Medium-Ish Salsa
Hailing from Anacortes, this locally-crafted chunky salsa is full of ripe tomatoes, fresh cilantro, crisp onions, zesty peppers, garlic, lime juice and flavorful spices. (The “ish” in the name refers to the heat of the jalapeños, which vary in spiciness depending on the time of year!)
Pain au Levain Bread
This slightly-nutty, slightly-sweet sourdough bread epitomizes French country-style baking with a chewy crust and light, airy interior. Baked by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this traditional Pain au Levain is crafted using the bakery’s own sourdough starter.
La Playa Carmenère 2024
Hailing from Chile’s renowned Colchagua Valley, this expressive Carmenère offers layers of ripe dark fruit accented by hints of vanilla, toasted spice, coffee, and mocha. Smooth, approachable tannins make it a natural pairing for this week’s bold Southwestern-inspired flavors.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware hens provide us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the long days of summer, they are enjoying lots of time outside in their run, pecking, scratching, and soaking up the sunshine.
Familia del Norte Queso Cotija
Often called the “Mexican Parmesan,” this whole-milk cotija is aged up to 60 days for a firmer texture and a deeper, bolder flavor than the typical crumbly version. Salty, savory, and beautifully complex, it’s perfect for grating over tacos. A little goes a long way, adding a bright, finishing touch that brings any dish to life.
DeCasa Corn Tortilla Chips
Crafted in small batches right here in the Northwest, these hearty corn chips are made with USDA Organic, non-GMO corn and just a handful of simple ingredients. Thick, crunchy, and built for serious dipping, they’re perfect alongside salsa, bean dip, hummus, or anything else that needs a in your gameday spread that needs a good scoop.
Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s selection of greens includes sunflower shoots and baby lettuces.
Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes green onions, zucchini, heirloom tomatoes, radishes, and Calabaza Mexicana, a tender summer squash commonly used in Mexican and Southwestern cooking. Also in your box: Sweet red summer cherries.
