How it Works

First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.

Forage & Feast

This week’s box is a true celebration of spring’s wild abundance, with forest-foraged mushrooms, vibrant greens, and peppery chive blossoms all making a flavorful appearance. Whether you’re roasting tender baby broccoli, shaving fennel into a citrusy salad, or simply toasting a slice of pumpernickel with a fried farm egg on top, this delivery is brimming with ingredients to spark creativity in the kitchen. Also included: Fresh eggs from our heritage breed hens, freshly-baked pumpernickel bread, and summer strawberries, plus don’t miss those prized Morels and Porcini—Northwest treasures that only make a brief, delicious cameo each year.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Locally-Foraged Morel & Porcini Mushrooms
This week’s delivery includes two locally-foraged favorites from the fungi kingdom: Morel and Porcini mushrooms! These Northwest beauties are only available in the wild, developing a cult following of local ‘mushroom hunters’ who roam our forests looking for these treats of nature.  Morels are woodsy and earthy, yet delicate in taste; Italian for ‘little pigs’, Porcini mushrooms are meaty and rich in taste, imparting a distinctive, woodsy flavor to any number of dishes.

Pumpernickel Bread & Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Baked fresh just for us by a small bakery in nearby Snohomish, this week’s baked goods selection includes a slightly-sweet rye bread loaf and oatmeal raisin cookies.

Dragon’s Head Kingston Black Cider
This limited release, single-varietal cider is made from 100% estate grown Kingston Black apples grown on Vashon Island. Dry, tannic, and lightly effervescent, it also features notes of dried apple, butterscotch, and clove, with a lingering astringent finish.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens is made up of three breeds: Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware. As they spend more time outdoors in the sunnier weather, they also enjoy produce trimmings and fresh greens to supplement their diet of organic layer mash, and continue to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s delivery of beautiful spring greens features escarole and purple radish microgreens.

Tillamook Strawberries
The first locally-grown strawberries of the season are here!

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes: Fennel, fava beans, baby broccoli, asparagus and Hakurei turnips, plus Meyer lemons and Golden Nugget mandarins.

Garden-Grown Herbs
Chive blossoms from the walled garden.

Fragrant Flower Scatter Garden
It’s a full flower garden in a packet! This seed mixture from Potting Shed Creations includes such floral varieties as Iceland poppies, Siberian wallflowers, French marigolds, and giant hyssops, among others, as well as planting instructions.
