Luck of the Larder

A little luck has landed in the Larder this week. Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, your box bursts to life with beautiful shades of spring green—from crisp cabbage and tender purple sprouting broccoli to a bounty of seasonal vegetables ready for the pot. Alongside this vibrant harvest, you’ll find ingredients to help craft a cozy feast inspired by the Emerald Isle: hearty potatoes, sweet carrots, and earthy turnips, plus farm-fresh eggs, Irish soda bread, and a bottle of classic Guinness stout to raise a glass. Whether you’re simmering a comforting supper or baking a decadent Guinness chocolate cake, this box is full of flavors perfect for celebrating the holiday. As they say in Ireland, sláinte—to your good health!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Irish Soda Bread
Baked in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this beloved quick bread is crafted in the traditional style from buttermilk, flour, sugar, raisins, and eggs.

Fresh-Baked Currant Scones
Tender, buttery, and lightly sweet, these freshly baked currant scones are studded with plump dried currants that add little bursts of bright flavor in every bite. With their delicate crumb and golden edges, they’re wonderful enjoyed warm with butter, jam, or a drizzle of honey alongside your morning coffee or tea.

Guinness Irish Stout
Rich, dark, and wonderfully smooth, this iconic Irish stout is known for its creamy head and notes of roasted barley, cocoa, and coffee. While perfect to sip alongside a hearty meal, Guinness also lends incredible depth to baked goods—try using it in this week’s decadent Guinness chocolate cake recipe for a festive St. Patrick’s Day treat.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, and Delawares provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. As the days lengthen, they are enjoying more time outside in their run, pecking, scratching, and soaking up the first hints of spring sunshine.

Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s box includes a bounty of mixed radicchio, including Rosalba, Chioggia and Treviso varieties.

Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection includes green cabbage, purple sprouting broccoli, carrots, Huckleberry Gold fingerling potatoes and purple top turnips, as well as Sugar Bee apples and Cara Cara oranges.

Garden-Grown Herbs
Italian parsley, thyme, and rosemary from the hoophouse and walled garden here at Bella Luna.
