How it Works

First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.

Autumn Brunch

Rise and shine, it’s breakfast time: Pour yourself a cup of coffee and perk up your taste buds with this week’s selection of farm-fresh brunch fare. Featuring such highlights as Jack Mountain’s smoky English-style bacon rashers, nutty pancake mix, rich eggs from our heritage breed hens, and freshly-baked cinnamon-raisin bread, this seasonally-inspired delivery also includes honey corn, bunched baby carrots, purple sweet potatoes, and crisp salad greens, plus plums, orchard apples, and kiwi berries. Enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Jack Mountain Smoked English-Style Bacon Rashers
Also known as back bacon, the rashers from this Skagit Valley-based meat company are hand cut from the loin with a portion of the belly still attached. Each belly cut is dry-cured the “old school” way, by hand, aged for a minimum of eight days, and are smoked all day over hazelnut shells. The resulting rashers crisp up very well, yet still have a big meaty chew.

Bluebird Grain Farms Organic Emmer Pancake Mix
This fantastic mix from a plow-to-package grain farm located in Winthrop, Washington yields sweet, nutty heirloom grain pancakes that are high in fiber, protein and B vitamins—not to mention utterly delicious!

Cinnamon Raisin Bread
Baked just for us by our favorite local bakery, this fresh-baked cinnamon raisin loaf makes for a delicious base to French toast.

Dragon’s Head Dabinett Reserve
This full-bodied, wild-fermented, barrel-aged cider is made by Dragon’s Head Cider on Vashon Island, WA using Dabinett apples, a traditional bittersweet variety. It features notes of toasted sugar, dried apricot, and brandy in the aroma, with flavors of orange peel and green tea.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of laying hens is made up of three heritage breeds: Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware. As they spend plenty of time outdoors in nice weather, they are also enjoying garden trimmings to supplement their diet as they continue to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, green, beige and cream.

Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s beautiful selection of greens includes mixed mini lettuces, and red Chioggia radicchio.

Kiwi Berries
A cousin of the well-known kiwi, these smooth, grape-sized Anna Hardy kiwi berries boast a delightfully sweet flavor. One note: These little beauties will arrive a touch underripe, so allow them to sit out at room temperature for a few days to ripen. Their skin will turn darker green, become slightly wrinkled, and they will yield to gentle pressure when ready to eat; be patient, it’s worth the wait!

Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes a harvest bounty of locally foraged white Chanterelle mushrooms, baby bunched carrots, honey corn, and purple sweet potatoes, as well as plums and farm apples from the Bella Luna orchard.

Garden-Grown Herbs
A fragrant mixed bundle of herbs from the walled garden and hoophouse.
