What’s In The Box? April 27-May 3

Springtime Brunch
The flavors of spring continue to delight, this week in a produce-packed brunch featuring our whole grain waffle mix, organic Skagit River Ranch breakfast sausage and beautiful farm-fresh eggs to poach, fry or scramble as you please. Accented by moist cinnamon raisin bread, silky crème fraîche and colorful produce including Cara Cara oranges, fava leaves, kale rapini and baby carrots, this breakfast is fit for a laidback weekend gathering.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Farm & Larder Whole Grain Waffle Mix

Crafted with whole grains and toasted pecans, this housemade mix produces wonderful waffles that are rich in taste and flavor. Simply mix with milk and eggs in a large bowl, then heat up the waffle iron and pour it on in.

Skagit River Ranch Breakfast Sausage

With a flavor that hints of maple and spices, this incredible breakfast sausage is made from all-natural pork raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley. These pampered pigs roam outdoors in certified-organic pastureland to root and dig, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

Fresh Raisin Bread

Made with natural starter, cinnamon and moist, chewy Flame raisins, this freshly-baked loaf is from our favorite bakery in nearby Snohomish.

Domaine des Escaravailles Côtes du Rhône

A beautiful red blend that features over 70-percent Grenache grapes, this sophisticated French wine is meaty and peppery, also featuring notes of raspberry, plum and other luscious dark fruits.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms on nice days, our heritage breed laying hens are also thoroughly enjoying a bounty of sprouting seeds and spring popweed, in turn supplying us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of blues, green and brown.

Housemade Crème Fraîche

Crafted in our farmstead creamery from pasteurized organic sweet cream, this rich and silky crème fraîche is delicious mixed in with baked eggs or incorporated into a lemon-kissed salad vinaigrette—see recipes for details.

Blueberry or Apricot Jam

Made here at Bella Luna in our farmhouse kitchen from our fresh-picked fruit, organic cane sugar and pectin. (That’s it!)

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection includes kale rapini, Pink Beauty radishes, Sieglinde potatoes, leeks, baby carrots, cauliflower and Cremini mushrooms, plus Cara Cara oranges and lemons.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Peppery arugula, Red Russian kale and fresh fava leaf greens.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fresh parsley, thyme, garlic and shallots.
