What’s In The Box? February 9-15

Winter Comforts
Duck out of the pervading chill this week and tuck into a cozy, comforting supper inspired by the hearty flavors of winter: creamy housemade mushroom soup, caraway-kissed rye bread and an array of seasonal salad ingredients including baby spinach greens, red beets and tangy Chevre cheese. Spicy F&L mustard, scratch-made apricot jam and juicy Cara Cara oranges also add bright appeal to this classic soup-and-salad themed box.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Mushroom Soup

This cozy winter soup is handcrafted in our farmhouse kitchen from earthy mixed mushrooms combined with garlic, onions, fresh herbs, chicken stock and just a splash of silky cream—serve with toasted rye bread and one of the week’s suggested salads for a truly-satisfying meal.

Rye Bread

Baked just for us by our favorite local bakery in Snohomish, this dense flavorful loaf is crafted from medium-grain rye flour and flavorful caraway seeds.

Housemade Mustard

Wonderful slathered on toasted rye, our signature mustard is bold and slightly spicy, made from ground mustard seeds, parsley, chives and champagne vinegar.

Torre Raone ‘Raone Blanco’

Crafted from grapes grown in the Colline Pescaresi region of Abruzzo, Italy, this beautiful white blend is dry, crisp and refreshing thanks to notes of citrus and shale.

Farm Fresh Eggs

As they spend more time snug in their coop during the cold, blustery winter months, our heritage breed laying hens are enjoying an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet, in turn supplying us with eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green.

Fresh Chevre Cheese

Creamy, smooth and decadent, this week’s chevre is a true farmhouse favorite. Crafted from whole goat’s milk, it is wonderful paired with roasted beets and citrusy Cara Cara oranges—see this week’s recipes for one of our favorite salads starring this trio.

Apricot Jam

Our organic jam is crafted from gorgeous, bright orange Harglow apricots. This particular variety boasts an exceptional flavor and texture, making it ideal for cooking and preserving—enjoy!

Farm-Fresh Fruit

Juicy Cara Cara oranges and lemons.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes leeks, Russian Banana fingerling potatoes, carrots, kohlrabi, cauliflower, red beets, Acorn squash and Savoy cabbage.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Beautiful baby spinach greens.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fresh thyme, Italian parsley and garlic.
