What’s In The Box? January 26-February 1

Weekend Brunch
Rise and shine! Gather round the table this weekend and rid yourself of the rainy day blues with a satisfying brunch starring fresh, hot-from-the-oven cream biscuits topped with a rich chicken sausage gravy. Complemented by breakfast-ready ingredients such as Gruyère cheese bread, apricot jam and farm-fresh eggs, this week’s box also includes fingerling potatoes, black radishes and leeks—pour yourself a cup of joe and get cookin’.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Double D Meats Chicken Breakfast Sausage

Family owned and run since 1955, Mountlake Terrace butchery Double D Meats only carries naturally raised meats. This includes this week’s flavorful breakfast sausage, which is made from organically-raised Draper Valley Farm chickens fed a vegetarian diet sans hormones and antibiotics.

Cream Biscuit Mix

Just add cream! Made from organic flour, sugar and butter, plus aluminum-free baking powder and a dash of sea salt, our savory housemade biscuit mix bakes up light and fluffy. Top hot-from-the-oven biscuits with a rich, creamy gravy crafted with this week’s chicken sausage—see recipes for details.

College Cellars of Walla Walla 2015 Viognier

Crafted by students at the nonprofit College Cellars teaching winery in Walla Walla, the 2015 Viognier is well-balanced with notes of apricot, honeysuckle and bright pineapple. Also medium-bodied with a light, dry finish, this particular vintage is aged in neutral oak tanks for extra body and flavor.

Gruyère Cheese Bread

Made in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this freshly-baked loaf balances rich Gruyère cheese with a light, crisp crust. Absolutely delicious toasted or re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.

Farm Fresh Eggs

As they spend more time snug in their coop during the cold, blustery winter months, our heritage breed laying hens are enjoying an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet, in turn supplying us with eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green.

Apricot Jam

Our organic jam is crafted from gorgeous, bright orange Harglow apricots. This particular variety boasts an exceptional flavor and texture, making it ideal for cooking and preserving—enjoy!

Farm-Fresh Fruit

Orin apples from BelleWood Acres in Lynden, plus lemons.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes red onions, Savoy cabbage, carrots, Ozette fingerling potatoes, black radishes and leeks.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Lacinato kale and a mix of spring greens.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fresh Italian parsley, thyme, garlic and shallots.
