What’s In The Box? March 16-22
St. Patrick’s Day Feast
Just in time for St. Paddy’s Day and the arrival of spring on Monday, this week’s box bursts to life with beautiful spring ‘greenery’—from green cabbage and leeks to Brussels sprouts and Lacinato kale, plus garden-fresh herbs and peppery arugula greens. Complementing this beautiful bounty are all the ingredients for a feast inspired by the Emerald Isle: Imported stout beer, our housemade Irish carrot soup and soda bread kissed with flavorful raisins and caraway seed.
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Irish Carrot Soup
Hand-crafted in our farmhouse kitchen from fresh carrots, yellow onions, garlic and our own homemade chicken stock, this color-rich, traditional-style soup is also finished with bright lemon juice, parsley and a splash of cream.
Irish Soda Bread
Baked in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this beloved, traditional-style quick bread is freshened up by the addition of plump, juicy raisins and caraway seed.
Guinness Extra Stout Beer
Based on a stout first brewed in 1821, Guinness Extra Stout is crisp and bittersweet with a bold flavor profile and a rich, balanced taste—as they say in Ireland, sláinte (to your good health)!
Mascarpone Cheese
Extra-thick and incredibly creamy, our mascarpone cheese boasts a beautifully-rich flavor due to the high butterfat content—delicious dolloped on this week’s soup or try it mixed in with mashed potatoes, pastas or risottos for a velvety finishing touch.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Spending their time dodging raindrops on wet, almost-spring days, our heritage breed laying hens are now also enjoying the tasty green popweed we pull from the garden, in turn supplying us with eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green.
Mustard-Caper Vinaigrette
Wake up your palette with this bright vinaigrette. Made with whole grain mustard, capers, fresh herbs and olive oil, it is perfect for tossing with freshly-roasted veggies such as carrots and cauliflower.
Plum Jam
Our housemade jam is crafted from gorgeous orchard plums lovingly handpicked off the tree each morning during the summer harvest. To preserve the wonderful fresh flavor and color, we make this ‘uncooked jam’ with plums, organic cane sugar, and pectin.
Farm-Fresh Fruit
Tangy lemons and juicy Cara Cara and Navel oranges. This week, give those beautiful oranges an even bigger flavor boost by marinating them in a rosemary-honey glaze—see recipes for details.

This week’s produce selection also includes green cabbage, carrots, Brussels sprouts, baby red potatoes, cauliflower, leeks and Oyster mushrooms.
