What’s In The Box? March 2-8

Brunch Time
Relax over a leisurely breakfast this weekend with a satisfying lineup starring our signature whole grain waffle mix, blueberry jam and Double DD Meats’ organic chicken breakfast sausage. Complemented by other breakfast-ready ingredients such as cinnamon-raisin bread, French hard cider and farm-fresh eggs, this week’s box also includes fingerling potatoes, Pioppino mushrooms and leeks—there’s even housemade tomato soup to serve should you decide linger around the table all the way through lunch.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Double DD Meats Chicken Breakfast Sausage

Family owned and run since 1955, Mountlake Terrace butchery Double DD Meats only carries naturally raised meats. This includes this week’s flavorful breakfast sausage, which is made from organically-raised Draper Valley Farm chickens fed a vegetarian diet sans hormones and antibiotics.

Farm & Larder Whole Grain Waffle Mix

Crafted with whole grains and toasted pecans, this housemade mix produces wonderful waffles that are rich in taste and flavor. Simply mix with milk and eggs in a large bowl, then heat up the waffle iron and pour it on in.

Housemade Tomato Soup

This soul-soothing soup is crafted in our farmhouse kitchen from fresh tomatoes, celery, onions and herbs, plus our signature chicken stock—top with a dollop of crème fraîche and a smattering of micro basil and serve!

Le Père Jules Normandie Cider Demi-Sec

This semi-sweet, full-bodied cider from Normandy, France is full of apple flavor, plus notes of lemon, orange and almonds. Crisp with a beautiful honey golden color, it would be lovely served warm with this week’s brunch.

Fresh Raisin Bread

Made with natural starter, cinnamon and moist, chewy Flame raisins, this freshly-baked loaf is from our favorite bakery in nearby Snohomish.

Housemade Crème Fraîche

Crafted in our farmstead creamery from pasteurized organic sweet cream, this rich and silky crème fraîche is delicious mixed in with baked eggs or dolloped atop this week’s soup.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Spending their time dodging raindrops on wet, almost-spring days (or basking in those brief moments of sun!), our heritage breed laying hens are now also enjoying the tasty green popweed we pull from the garden, in turn supplying us with eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green.

Blueberry Jam

Made here at Bella Luna in our farmhouse kitchen from our fresh-picked blueberries, organic cane sugar and pectin.

Farm-Fresh Fruit

Tangy lemons and juicy Cara Cara and Navel oranges.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes Pioppino mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, leeks, golden beets, yellow onions, baby red potatoes, carrots and parsnips.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Beautiful spinach greens.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fresh Italian parsley, thyme, shallots and garlic. Also included this week is fresh micro basil, a petite and sweet version of classic Italian basil. Try it atop soups, salads and scrambled eggs; it is also wonderful on warm flatbread!
