What’s In The Box? March 30-April 5

Good Morning
There’s nothing quite like a fresh spring morning, the dew sparkling on each blade of grass and the newest garden shoots reaching toward the sky to catch some all-elusive sun. Thus, with fixings like our housemade spinach-mushroom frittata and spicy all-organic chorizo sausage complementing spring-fresh ingredients like spring onions, leeks and collard greens, this week’s breakfast-themed box greets the morning with similar enthusiasm—slice up some Gruyère cheese bread, set out some blueberry jam and enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Housemade Frittata

Crafted in the farmhouse kitchen with eggs laid by our flock of heritage-breed hens, plus fresh mushrooms, spinach and rich, silky crème fraîche, this light and lovely frittata is one easy entrée— simply reheat in a 350° oven for about 20-25 minutes or until warmed through, then cut it into generous wedges and serve.

Skagit River Ranch Chorizo Sausage

This pig has kick! Spiced with cumin, coriander and Ancho chile powder, this flavorful sausage from our friends at the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley is crafted from their famous all-natural pork and makes for a spicy addition to this week’s brunch fare.

Domaine de Beausejour Chinon

This French Loire Valley red is crafted from Cabernet grapes and boasts a beautiful black cherry color. Supple and well-rounded on the palate, it also features notes of cherries, tobacco and fresh thyme.

Gruyère Cheese Bread

Made in nearby Snohomish by one of our favorite bakeries, this freshly-baked loaf balances sweet, nutty Gruyère with a light, crisp crust. It is absolutely wonderful re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Spending their time dodging raindrops on wet, spring days, our heritage-breed laying hens are now also enjoying the tasty green popweed we pull from the garden, in turn supplying us with eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green.

Blueberry Jam

Made in the farmhouse kitchen from our fresh-picked blueberries, organic cane sugar and pectin.

Farm-Fresh Fruit

Juicy Cara Cara oranges and lemons.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes leeks, yellow onions, red spring onions and baby red potatoes.

Seasonal Organic Greens

A plethora of beautiful spring greens—kale, collard greens and spinach.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fresh thyme, cilantro, garlic and shallots.

Spring Daffodils

Fresh-cut daffodils to brighten up your home!
