What’s In The Box? November 17-23

Holiday Accoutrements
It’s almost turkey time—allow us to lend a helping hand with the big meal with a beautiful assortment of housemade
accoutrements like our wild mushroom duxelles and herb compound butter, plus seasonal produce including Brussels sprouts, Chantenay carrots, yams and pearl onions. Also included: Provisions to incorporate into the day’s most classic dishes, from a turkey brining kit and chicken stock to cranberries for homemade sauce. Here’s to a happy holiday—and satisfied stomachs, too!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Turkey Brining Kit

Our signature dry-brine mixture is crafted from fresh farm herbs, kosher salt and aromatic spices. See this week’s recipes for full instructions to this simple and easy way to produce an incredibly juicy turkey.

F&L Chicken Stock

The key to rich, flavorful gravy? Incredible stock. Crafted from roasted Bella Luna chickens, our housemade broth is simmered slowly for hours with carrots, onions, parsley and celery and seasoned with a dash of sea salt and cracked black pepper.

Housemade Duxelles

Wild mushrooms shine in this finely chopped mixture of shallots and herbs sautéed in butter and wine. Try this lovely blend added into traditional gravy, tossed with roasted vegetables or stirred into our favorite rustic mashed potatoes (see recipes for details!).

Herb Compound Butter

Creamy butter flecked with fresh parsley and shallots.

Challah Bread

Baked just for us by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this traditional-style loaf boasts a sweet, rich flavor thanks to a base of silky eggs, Shepherd’s Grain flour and a touch of sugar.

Italo Cescon Pinot Grigio

Light and dry, this Italian Pinot Grigio features lingering aromas of nutmeg, vanilla, ripe tomato and acacia blossom. This wine is incredibly crisp and full in flavor with hints of orange—a nice accompaniment to this week’s holiday fare.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens are on an early-to-bed, later-to-rise schedule with the shorter daylight hours. As they spend more time snug in their coop, the “girls” are enjoying an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet, continuing to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green.

Westward Blue Cheese

Similar in style to a gorgonzola, this creamy soft cheese boasts a gorgeous marbled center and flavorful bite.

Fresh Fruit

Fresh Gala apples, Red D’Anjou pears, lemons and tart-sweet cranberries.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes Brussels sprouts, Garnet yams, celery, Chantenay carrots, Carnival winter squash, sweet Italian peppers, baby red beets and pearl onions.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Treviso radicchio.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Parsley, sage, thyme, garlic and shallots.
