What’s In The Box? October 11-17

Fall Color
Much like autumn leaves bursting in brilliant shades of orange, scarlet and yellow, our gardens continue to grace us with colorful new produce, from peppery arugula greens and purple carrots to Sungold cherry tomatoes and sweet yellow onions. Celebrate this beautiful bounty alongside semolina pasta and locally-sourced smoked salmon, plus rustic Italian bread, farm-fresh eggs and our signature fruit crisp topping to take advantage of this week’s selection of Bella Luna apples and pears.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Rustichella d’Abruzzo Imported Bucatini Pasta

Imported from Italy, this spaghetti-like durum wheat semolina pasta has a hole running through the center—hence the name bucatini, which comes from the Italian buco, meaning “hole”, while bucato means “pierced”.

Lummi Island Smoked Salmon

Tender and perfectly flaky, this top-quality, reef net-caught Keta salmon is hot smoked over alder coals and kissed with just the right amount of seasoning.

Italian Rustica Bread

Baked just for us at a small bakery in Snohomish, this airy, rustic loaf makes for great oven-crisp crostini—just brush with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper and rub with a fresh-cut clove of garlic before toasting.

Domaine de Couron Marselan

Rich and intense, this beautiful red wine is crafted by a family-run estate that lies in the tiny hamlet of Saint Marcel d’Ardeche in France. Flavors of black currants and wild herbs are nicely balanced by a medium-bodied mouthfeel on the palate.

Crème Fraîche

Crafted in our farmstead creamery from pasteurized organic sweet cream, our rich and silky crème fraîche adds a beautiful finishing touch to salad dressings, or to a fresh fall fruit crisp.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the shorter days of fall, the girls are up with the sun to roam the outdoors where they still enjoy the pleasant afternoons.

Fruit Crisp Topping

Our signature fruit crisp topping is crafted from organic cane sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and sweet butter. Wonderful paired with the apples and pears from your box, it also tops coffee cake with aplomb!

Seasonal Fruit

A beautiful sampling of ripe fall apples and pears from the Bella Luna orchards.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Peppery arugula greens.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes sweet yellow onions, Sungold cherry tomatoes, Treviso radicchio, purple carrots, Piricicaba broccoli.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Parsley, rosemary, sage and thyme.
