What’s In The Box? October 26-November 1

Oktoberfest
In keeping with the warm, soulful flavors of classic Oktoberfest, this week’s lineup stars such Bavarian favorites as smoky bratwurst links, wholegrain mustard and our housemade tangy sauerkraut. Complemented by an array of fresh fall produce like Delicata squash, purple carrots and Russian Banana fingerling potatoes to incorporate into comforting side dishes, this box also includes bread pudding accented with raisins and bourbon maple syrup to finish your supper on a sweet note.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Double DD Meats Bratwurst Sausage

Family owned and run since 1955, Double DD Meats’ Mountlake Terrace butchery only carries naturally-raised meats, including this week’s smoky bratwurst links spiced with fresh herbs. Make these flavorful sausages the star of your Bavarian feast by serving them hot with our housemade mustard and tangy sauerkraut.

Wholegrain Mustard

Wonderful slathered over a hearty bratwurst, our signature mustard is bold and slightly spicy, made with both ground and pickled mustard seeds, fresh parsley and apple cider vinegar.

Housemade Sauerkraut

Made from finely-shredded cabbage fermented with sea salt, this traditional German condiment packs a wonderful, tangy kick.

Gruyère Cheese Bread

Made in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this freshly-baked loaf balances sweet, nutty Gruyère cheese with a light, crisp crust. Absolutely delicious toasted or re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.

Hedges Family Estates CMS Sauvignon Blanc 2016

This unique Washington wine combines the interesting aromatics and acidity of a Sauvignon Blanc with the inviting mouthfeel of a Chardonnay. Lively with the aromas of lemongrass, pineapple and shortbread, it also features a bright acidity with hints of green apple flavor.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the shorter days of fall, the girls are up with the sun to roam the outdoors. Bedtime is coming much earlier now, as we see them heading into their house to roost as the sun is going down.

Fall Bread Pudding

Accented with warm spices, raisins and bourbon maple syrup, this is one soul-soothing bread pudding—simply pop it in a 350° oven for 15 to 20 minutes to reheat and then enjoy!

Ripe Fruit

Saturn grapes and Honeycrisp apples.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes Hakurei turnips, purple carrots, Romanesco broccoli, Pink Beauty radishes, Delicata squash, rainbow cherry tomatoes, and red Carmen, Jimmy Nardello and Yellow Banana sweet peppers, plus Russian Banana fingerling potatoes.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Iron-rich spinach and escarole.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Italian parsley, thyme, rosemary and sage.
