What’s In The Box? August 11-17

Summer All-Stars
Apricots! Tomatoes! Cucumbers! These late summer staples are arriving in abundance here in August and this week’s box celebrates them in all their sun-ripened glory, as well as other favorites such as summer squash, Tropea and Walla Walla onions, yellow Romano beans, rainbow Swiss Chard, fragrant herbs and fennel. Also joining these summer all-stars: Freshly-baked focaccia, basil-infused olive oil, creamy chevre from Lost Peacock Farm, fresh eggs from our heritage-breed hens and our signature cobbler crust mix to whip up something special for dessert. Long live summer!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

F&L Cobbler Crust Mix

Our signature cobbler crust mix contains organic flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and butter; when combined with a splash of milk, the resulting mixture produces a light and fluffy cobbler topping. This week, try it with apricots for a sweet, summery dessert.

Fresh Fruit

Ripe and juicy apricots.

Basil-Infused Olive Oil

Crafted in our farmhouse kitchen, this high-quality extra virgin olive oil is infused with the beautiful flavors of basil harvested fresh from the garden. This infused oil makes a wonderful base for salad dressings, or enjoy it simply on its own served with warm bread or focaccia.

Focaccia Bread

This soft, chewy Italian-style loaf is baked just for us by our favorite local bakery. Kissed with fragrant fresh herbs, it is delicious served warm and dipped in olive oil.

Figuière Méditerranée Rosé 2020

Intended to be light, invigorating and easy-to-enjoy, this refreshing southern French rosé features flavors of peach, orange skin and white flowers that are accented by refreshing acidity and a salty minerality thanks to the influence of the Mediterranean sea.

Farm Fresh Eggs

As they spend lots of time outdoors in their run, our small flock of heritage breed laying hens are enjoying succulent popweed pulled from the gardens along with an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet, continuing to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Lost Peacock Creamery Chevre

Soft and spreadable, this lightly creamy chevre from the Grade-A Lost Peacock goat dairy in Olympia, Washington is a simply beautiful farmstead cheese. Crafted with just goat’s milk and sea salt, it features notes of summer pasture and bright lemon.

Fresh Organic Greens

Gorgeous rainbow Swiss chard.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes cherry and heirloom tomatoes, artichokes, English cucumbers, fresh Walla Walla and Tropea onions, mixed summer squash, fennel, scallions, yellow Romano beans and Chioggia beets.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Garlic, parsley, oregano and basil from the herb garden at Bella Luna.
