What’s In The Box? April 16-22

Springtime Brunch
The flavors of spring continue to delight, this week in a produce-packed brunch featuring organic breakfast sausage, eggy Challah bread and farm-fresh eggs to fry, poach or scramble as you please. Accented by Honeycrisp apple chips, Chai spice nut butter and our signature apple butter, plus an Austrian Alpine-style cheese and colorful produce including golden beets, purple sprouting broccoli, Mache greens and the first of the spring rhubarb, this breakfast is fit for the season—enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box:

Skagit River Ranch Breakfast Sausage

With a flavor profile that includes hints of sweet maple syrup and savory spices, this incredible breakfast sausage is made from all-natural pork raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley. These pampered pigs roam outdoors in certified-organic pasture land to root and dig, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

Challah Bread

Baked just for us by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this beautiful bread boasts a sweet, rich flavor thanks to a traditional base of silky eggs, Shepherd’s Grain flour and a touch of sugar. This week, try it slathered with Chai spice nut butter and apple butter for a twist on the classic PB&J, or enjoy as part of an apple-kissed bread pudding!

Rosso di Montepulciano 2018 Riello Delle Balze

Light ruby in color with aromas of fresh red fruit like cherries and savory spices including fennel, this beautiful Italian red finishes dry with mild acidity and soft mineral notes—a great pair to this week’s Alpine-style cheese, plus salami, red sauces, or anything on the grill.

Austrian Alpine-Style Cheese

Crafted from whole cow’s milk, this hard Alpine-style Austrian cheese is similar to a Comte and pairs beautifully with a salad of spring greens!

Farm Fresh Eggs

Spending their time dodging raindrops on wet spring days, or strutting around their enclosure on sunny ones, our heritage breed laying hens are now also enjoying the tasty green popweed we pull from the garden, in turn supplying us with eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Big Spoon Roasters Chai Spice Nut Butter

A fusion of classic American and Indian flavors, this addictive spread from North Carolina’s Big Spoon Roasters blends a traditional Masala Chai comprised of fragrant cardamom, cloves, ginger, vanilla and black pepper with freshly-milled peanuts, almonds, wildflower honey and sea salt to create a bright burst of flavor in every spoonful.

Housemade Apple Butter

A farmhouse favorite crafted from fresh-picked Bella Luna orchard apples, slow-cooked in a cider reduction and seasoned with brown sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon.

Sauk Farm Dried Honeycrisp Apple Chips

Made from the organic honeycrisp apples grown on Sauk Farm in Concrete, Washington, these dried apple chips are a great healthy snack, made without added sugar, additives or preservatives.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Orange Star Farm Mache, arugula, pea shoots and mixed microgreens.

Seasonal Organic Fruits & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes golden beets, leeks, purple sprouting broccoli and carrots, plus Pacific Rose apples, Cara Cara oranges, baby red potatoes, asparagus and the first of the spring rhubarb!

Fresh Garden Herbs

Italian parsley, garlic, thyme and shallots from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.
