What’s In The Box? August 20-26

Summer Grilling
Honey Sweet corn to smoky-spicy peppers, this week’s array of local summer treasures invites you to bust out the barbecue and get to grilling. Highlighted by other summery produce such as zucchini, cucumbers, melon, Walla Walla sweet onions and a plethora of sun-ripened heirloom tomatoes, plus fresh focaccia bread, fragrant herbs and edible flowers, this box is fit for lingering on the patio, all the way down to the gourmet s’mores kit to enjoy at night’s end.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box:

Honey Sweet Corn

‘Tis the season for corn! These super-sweet, locally-grown ears are great for grilling—enjoy hot off the cob with a dab of butter, or try tossing the charred kernels into a summery salad.

Chili Peppers

These Anaheim and Poblano peppers are sure to add smoky, spicy appeal to just about any dish!

Dick Taylor Chocolate S’mores Kit

Finish off your summer grilling with a sweet, salty, buttery, chocolatey treat! This s’mores kit from Northern California chocolatier Dick Taylor elevates the campfire staple with the perfect trio of the brand’s signature 72-percent Belize dark chocolate, plus Malvi vanilla marshmallows and flakey Effie’s Oatcakes.

Focaccia Bread

This soft, chewy Italian-style loaf is baked just for us by our favorite local bakery. Kissed with fragrant fresh herbs, it is delicious dipped in olive oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar, or use it as the base of a summer sandwich.

Urgency 2018 Chardonnay

Steely and crisp in melon, apple and nectarine, this Chardonnay from the winemakers at Shannon Ridge Winery in Middleton, California is integrated in subtle oak with a hint of brioche and vanilla, giving it a well-balanced acidity that keeps it fresh in the glass.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms, our heritage breed laying hens supply us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Ripe Summer Fruit

Early Doyenne de Juliet and Ubileen pears, plus Caruso Farm Tuscan melon and blueberries.

Seasonal Organic Greens

A beautiful mix of summer salad greens and Pomegranate Crunch lettuce.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes a mix of Green Zebra, Jaune Flamme and Black Prince heirloom tomatoes, mixed cherry tomatoes, fennel, Eight Ball round zucchini, yellow Crooked Neck squash, English cucumber, Russian Banana fingerling new potatoes, Walla Walla sweet onions and red and Chioggia beets.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Italian parsley, basil, chives and thyme from the walled garden at Bella Luna Farms.

Edible Flowers

Bright, cheery edible flowers to add color and spice to salads and beyond.
