Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Fresh Basil
This warm-weather, fragrant herb is an all-time summer classic, well-suited to a great many dishes—including the beloved classic pesto!
Imported Orecchiette
Crafted in the traditional Italian style from semolina flour and cut using Old World bronze dies, this distinctively-shaped artisanal pasta made by Rustichella d’Abruzzo hails from Pianella, Italy and aptly resembles its name—“little ears”!
Italian Rustica Bread
This freshly-baked loaf is made at a small bakery in Snohomish using a wild yeast starter, which creates an airy, chewy bread and a delightfully-crisp crust. This bread is wonderfully sliced and grilled for crostini—rub each lightly-charred piece with a cut clove of garlic for extra flavor.
Ravoire et Fils 2020 Domaine des Bellugues Rosé Mediterranée
Made by a small family estate named for the fireflies that live around the vineyard (bellegues means “spark”), this French rosé bursts with fresh fruit flavors and a crisp, bright acidity.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms, our heritage breed laying hens supply us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of cream, beige and brown.
Grana-Style Cheese
Made in our farmstead creamery, this hard Grana-style cheese is crafted from part-skim cow’s milk to allow for longer aging of 24 months or more. Ideal for inclusion in pesto, the drum-shaped cheese is turned and rubbed with olive oil during aging to create a smooth, golden rind.
Piranske Soline Salt Flower
These tiny pyramid-shaped crystals come from the famous European Piran salt pans, harvested using a special webbed spatula to remove them gently from the surface of the salt fields, where they form in a thin layer. A wonderful seasoning, this world-class fleur de sel enhances the natural flavors of fresh produce—as well as pesto.
Seasonal Organic Greens
Gorgeous frisée to enjoy in your salads this week.
Seasonal Organic Vegetables & Fruit
This week’s produce selection also includes turnips, heirloom tomatoes, purple carrots and cauliflower, plus beautiful summer plums.
Fresh Garden Herbs
In addition to this week’s basil, this week you’ll also find parsley and chives from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.
