What’s In The Box? December 3-9

Bavarian Classics
This week’s box stars the hearty, robust, cozy and comforting flavors of Bavaria with all-natural bratwurst complemented by locally-crafted European-style sauerkraut and our housemade whole-grain mustard, plus seasonal produce like Brussels sprouts, butter lettuce, baby red potatoes and Delicata squash to help craft our favorite German-style side dishes (see recipes for details!). Fresh Jewish Rye bread, a light Chardonnay and our signature apple cider vinaigrette round out this truly-satisfying lineup. Prost!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Bratwurst

The pampered pigs raised on this farm in Sedro-Woolley roam outdoors in certified organic pastureland to root, dig, and cavort, thriving on a diet of flaxseed, corn and wheat. This week, enjoy the all-natural pork in the ranch’s perfectly-spiced bratwurst links, which are excellent served in a sandwich on Jewish Rye with a slathering each of sauerkraut and mustard!

Olykraut European-Style Sauerkraut

Crafted by Olympia’s Olykraut from shredded cabbage, onion, apple, carrot, caraway seeds, grapefruit juice and Jacobsen Salt Co. sea salt, this traditional European-style condiment packs a wonderful, tangy kick.

Wholegrain Mustard

Wonderful slathered over a hearty bratwurst, our signature mustard is bold and slightly spicy, made with both ground and pickled mustard seeds, fresh parsley and apple cider vinegar.

Jewish Rye Bread

This dense, nutty loaf is baked for us by our favorite small bakery in Snohomish and is made with traditional dark rye flour, a natural sour rye starter and caraway seeds.

Yalumba Y Series Chardonnay

This South Australian unwooded Chardonnay is pure, fresh and light-bodied, featuring aromas of lemon, grapefruit and other tropical fruits.

Farm Fresh Eggs

As they spend more time snug in their coop, our heritage breed laying hens are enjoying an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet, continuing to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Apple Cider Vinaigrette

Our housemade vinaigrette, kissed with olive oil, farmstead honey and fresh apple cider; try it drizzled over butter lettuce for a refreshing side salad to serve with this week’s hearty Bavarian fare.

Seasonal Fruit

Orchard apples, pomegranates and Meyer lemons.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Butter lettuce and Lacinato kale.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes Brussels sprouts, baby red potatoes, scallions, Delicata squash, leeks, celery, broccoli, purple Daikon radishes and yellow onions.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Italian parsley, thyme, and shallots from the walled garden and hoophouse at Bella Luna Farms.
