What’s In The Box? February 26 – March 4

Weekend Breakfast
Put on the coffee pot, pull out a skillet and wake up to this week’s box of farmhouse favorites—with our housemade hotcake mix, barrel-aged maple syrup from Woodinville Whiskey Co. and organic sausage, plus beautiful strawberry preserves, a crisp Prosecco and farm-fresh eggs, it has everything you need to whip up a hearty breakfast for family and friends. Good morning!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Farm & Larder Hazelnut Hotcake Mix

Crafted with whole-grains and hazelnut flour, this housemade mix produces hearty flapjacks rich in taste and flavor. Simply mix with milk and eggs, heat up the griddle and get to flipping—see this week’s recipes for details. Try topping warm hotcakes with our honey-cinnamon butter and Woodinville Whiskey Co.’s maple syrup to lend a touch of sweetness.

Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup

This rich syrup crafted by local distillery Woodinville Whiskey Co. is made from pure, grade-A amber maple and aged in the company’s oak barrels to infuse it with hints of vanilla, caramel, wood spice, and of course, whiskey.

Skagit River Ranch Breakfast Sausage

With a flavor that hints of maple and spices, this incredible breakfast sausage is made from all-natural pork raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley. These pampered pigs roam outdoors in certified-organic pastureland to root and dig, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

Farm & Larder Coffee Blend

Well-rounded with hints of nutty cocoa and a clean, balanced finish, our signature beans are directly sourced from a small estate in South America and then roasted locally by Caffe Lusso in Redmond. To ensure each bean is perfectly toasted, Roastmaster Philip Meech finishes our custom blend in small, twenty-five pound batches on his world-class Diedrich IR-12 roasting machine.

Fresh Cinnamon Raisin Bread

Made with moist, chewy Flame raisins, this freshly-baked loaf from our favorite local bakery in Snohomish makes excellent toast. Set out a freshly-toasted stack along with this week’s honey-cinnamon butter and strawberry preserves.

Adami Garbel 13 Prosecco

The vineyards of Adami are situated along the hills of the Marca Trevigiana, in Veneto, Italy. Historical records from 1606 suggest that the wines of this area had wide international demand, being shipped to the royal courts of Germany, Venice, and Poland. This particular bottle of Adami Prosecco is called “Garbel”, meaning “crisp and dry” in the ancient local dialect of the region. It’s a fresh and easy bubbly, with fine bubbles and fruity hints of apples, lemon, and pears. Made using the traditional grape of Prosecco, called Gelra, it has a light yet creamy texture.

Farm Fresh Eggs

As they spend their time dodging raindrops on wet spring days, our heritage breed laying hens enjoy the tasty green popweed we pull from the garden, in turn supplying us with eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green with bright yellow yolks—enjoy a full dozen this week to use in a scramble.

Pepperoncini Asiago

Dotted with spicy pepperoncini peppers, this truly unique Asiago cheese is crafted from whole cow’s milk and boasts a wonderful, crumbly texture, making it an ideal addition to scrambled eggs.

Honey-Cinnamon Compound Butter

Crafted from sweet butter, Bella Luna Farm honey and a touch of cinnamon, this delicious compound butter is the perfect finishing touch for a pile of hotcakes.

Strawberry Preserves

Our housemade freezer-style jam is crafted in small batches from gorgeous, organic strawberries grown in Washington. To preserve the wonderful fresh flavor and color, we make this recipe with berries, organic sugar, and pectin. (That’s it!)

Seasonal Organic Fruits & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection includes yellow Russian Banana fingerling potatoes, Okinawan sweet potatoes (which boast a yellow exterior and bright purple interior!), leeks, scallions, sweet onions and Crimini mushrooms, plus Meyer lemons and Washington grown Lady Alice apples.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Vitamin A-rich spinach and collard greens.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fresh Italian parsley, chives, shallots and garlic from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.
