What’s In The Box? January 30 – February 5

Whether you are planning a quiet, romantic night or feeding a crowd during the big game (go Seahawks!), this week’s box has everything you need for a cozy, satisfying chili supper. Our classic beef chili pairs perfectly with freshly-baked cornbread, organic winter greens topped with blue cheese and hazelnuts and a fresh fruit crisp to finish. Here is what you’ll find in your box this week:

Homestyle Chili

A classic beef chili made with beans, rich tomato and chili sauce and onions for just the right amount of kick. Top with a dollop of sour cream, chopped sweet onion and grated cheese—excellent with cornbread and honey butter!

Cornbread Mix

This housemade mix produces a light, old-fashioned style cornbread with the natural sweetness of corn. For best results, bake in a preheated cast-iron skillet—delicious with the honey butter from your box this week!

Honey Butter

Made from golden wildflower honey from Bella Luna Farms and organic sweet butter.

Lone Birch 2012 Pinot Gris

Crafted from Oregon Pinot Gris grapes by fourth-generation winemakers, this 2012 Pinot Gris’ enticing bouquet of tropical fruit—including the luscious flavors of pineapple, pear and white peach—lends to a well-balanced, medium-bodied mouthfeel.

Westward Blue Gorgonzola Style Cheese

Crumble this gorgeous soft cheese on top of salads for a flavorful kick.

Housemade Blue Cheese Dressing

Made with the same Westward Blue cheese from your box, this creamy dressing is excellent drizzled over this week’s selection of winter greens.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. The hens are enjoying this continued spell of nice weather and the longer days; the ladies need at least 14 hours of daylight to produce eggs, so we provide them with extra light in their house during these short days of winter.

Organic Toasted Hazelnuts

Chop and add to your salad!

Mixed Vegetable Giardiniera

Our take on the classic Italian relish is crafted from a medley of pickled vegetables including sliced carrots, celery, onion and cauliflower—serve alone, or with crostini, for the perfect appetizer!

Red Chard

Try this gorgeous red chard simply sautéed with onion and olive oil to fully enjoy its sweet, mellow flavor and meltingly tender texture.

Brussels Sprouts

These mini cabbages are at their prime during the winter months, developing a sweet and nutty flavor profile that is delightful tossed with pasta or as a stand-alone side dish.

Organic Winter Greens

Fresh mini romaine lettuce and hearty baby spinach.

Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables

This week’s selection includes a collection of organic Granny Smith apples, sweet yellow onions, shallots, fingerling potatoes and Bosc pears.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Parsley, thyme, and fresh bay leaves from the Walled Garden at Bella Luna Farms.

Cranberry Almond Fruit Crisp Topping

Made with dried cranberries, ground almonds and sweet butter, our tart, savory-sweet crisp topping is a colorful finish for a fruit crisp. It also tops coffeecake with aplomb!
