What’s In The Box? July 10-16

Italian Summer Picnic
A little of this, a little of that—this week’s box encourages you to pick and choose from a variety of flavorful, antipasti bites to create a perfect plate. From our flavorful Corona bean salad and mixed vegetable giardiniera to garlic flatbread and fresh feta cheese marinated in olive oil and herbs, these summery sides are fit for an afternoon spent snacking in the sun; crack open a bottle of wine, set out a picnic blanket, and soak up the culinary delights of Italy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box:

Housemade Corona Bean Salad

This refreshing cold salad is made from a base of creamy Corona beans, then topped with a flavorful Italian vinaigrette, roasted red peppers and fresh herbs. Try pairing these rich, luxurious beans with our fresh feta cheese and this week’s garlic fougasse loaf!

Mixed Vegetable Giardiniera

Our take on the classic Italian relish is crafted from a medley of pickled vegetables including sliced carrots, cauliflower, onions and celery along with spicy Italian pepperoncini and allspice.

Garlic Fougasse Bread

Baked just for us at a small bakery in Snohomish, this rustic flatbread is ideal for sharing. Similar in style to traditional foccacia, the artisanal-style loaf is studded with fresh garlic to give it extra depth and flavor—tear off a piece and dip it in your favorite olive oil, or top with fresh cheese.

Esporão Verdelho

Coming from the Alentejo area of Portugal, Esporão is renowned as the modern master of traditional grapes of the region. A prime example, this Verdelho (ver-day-o) is a unique grape of Alentejo, which tastes like a combination of the crisp flavors of Sauvignon Blanc and the floral qualities of Viognier. A great summer refresher with lovely notes of fresh aromatic pairs, bright citrus and clean minerality, it is fantastic with light seafood such as halibut ceviche or steamed clams.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the arrival of longer and warmer days, the “girls” spend their time enjoying the sunshine, chasing bugs, and eating all of the tasty, rich greens we pull from the garden. As a result, you’ll enjoy bright yellow egg yolks during the summer months!

Fresh Feta Cheese In Olive Oil

Creamy with just the right amount of bite, this fresh feta is accented by high-quality olive oil, fresh oregano, parsley and rosemary and red wine vinegar—serve it as an elegant appetizer paired with crudites or crostini, or try on top of a bed of fresh greens.

Casina Rossa Caperberries in Prosecco

Made from the oblong, semi-green fruit of the caper plant, these snacking berries strike the perfect balance between sweet and savory, marinated in crisp Prosecco wine. A brilliant accompaniment to cheese and crackers, wine and other antipasti!

Wildflower Honey

Golden wildflower honey from the apiary at Bella Luna Farms.
