What’s In The Box? July 2-8

Fresh Fourth
Fire up the grill and celebrate America’s birthday this week with a flavorful Fourth of July spread highlighted by Skagit River Ranch bratwurst to grill, petite quail eggs to devil and our signature cobbler mix and apricots to whip up dessert. Also included: An absolutely incredible lineup of summer produce with fresh fava beans, cherries, garlic scapes, purple salad turnips, mixed baby greens from San Juan Island and the first of the heirloom tomatoes—so pour a glass of wine, tie on an apron and enjoy your Independence Day!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box:

Skagit River Ranch Bratwurst

The pampered pigs raised on this farm in Sedro-Woolley roam outdoors in certified organic pastureland to root, dig, and cavort, thriving on a diet of flaxseed, corn and wheat. Make these flavorful, all-natural pork sausages the star of your 4th of July feast by serving them hot off the grill.

Fresh Fava Beans

These verdant, seasonal beans from Snohomish’s own One Leaf Farm do require a little prep work, but it’s well worth the effort, especially as these super-fresh ones should only require one peeling—enjoy their inherent sweet, nutty flavor with everything from pastas to proteins, or added to salads or dips.

Pomodoro Loaf

Flecked with flavorful sun-dried tomatoes and herbs, plus a hint of sea salt, this savory loaf is baked just for us by our favorite bakery in Snohomish.

Ravoire et Fils 2019 Domaine des Bellugues Rosé

Crafted by a small French family estate named for the fireflies that live around the vineyard, this Rosé is crisp, light and refreshing, with enough fruitiness to balance the acidity.

Quail Eggs

Considered a delicacy in many parts of the world, the quail egg packs a beautifully rich flavor inside its tiny speckled brown and tan shell. Wonderful poached, pickled or even fried sunny side up, these petite beauties from Oakdale Farm are particularly stunning served deviled for a picnic.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms, our heritage breed laying hens supply us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

F&L Cobbler Crust Mix

Our signature cobbler crust mix contains organic flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and butter; when combined with cream, the resulting mixture can be used for a light and fluffy cobbler topping or cut into rounds for shortcakes. Pair with stone fruit like this week’s apricots or berries for the perfect summer dessert.

Summer Fruit

Locally-grown cherries and beautifully-ripe apricots.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Frisée, Luisa radicchio, Komutsana mustard spinach and mixed microgreens. Also included: A delicious mix of fresh baby greens from Mama Bird Farm located on San Juan Island.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes purple salad turnips, Piracicaba sprouting broccoli, summer squash and first-of-the-season heirloom tomatoes from Hedlin Family Farms.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Italian parsley, tarragon, chives, cilantro and oregano from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms, as well as pungent garlic scapes.

Edible Flowers

Bright, cheery viola and calendula blossoms to add color and spice to your salads.
