What’s In The Box? July 23-29

Taco Night
Spice things up with this week’s taco-themed box, which comes complete with locally-made, hand-pressed tortillas, smoky chorizo sausage from Skagit River Ranch and a bounty of summer produce to serve alongside, from crisp cabbage and jalapeño pepper to heirloom cherry tomatoes, spicy salad greens and Costata Romanesco zucchini. Also included: Freshly-baked multigrain bread, a crisp French Rosé wine and ripe, juicy Okanogan yellow peaches. Enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box:

Skagit River Ranch Chorizo Sausage

This pig has kick! Spiced with cumin, coriander and Ancho chile powder, this flavorful, all-natural pork sausage from our friends at Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley makes for fantastic taco filling—simply sauté, stuff into a whole wheat tortilla and top with cabbage slaw!

Patty Pan Cooperative Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas

The locally-made, hand-pressed tortillas from this Shoreline-based worker-owned coop are crafted from just four stellar ingredients: Olive oil, salt, water and organic flour from Cairnspring Mills located in the Skagit Valley. (Pro tip: Quickly heat the tortilla over an open flame for a delicious, slightly-charred flavor!)

Multigrain Bread

Crafted in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this healthy freshly-baked loaf is made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds.

Ravoire et Fils 2019 Domaine des Bellugues Rosé Mediterranée

Made by a small family estate named for the fireflies that live around the vineyard (bellegues means “spark”), this French rosé bursts with fresh fruit flavors and a crisp, bright acidity.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms, our heritage breed laying hens supply us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Variegata di Lusia radicchio, spicy Mesclun salad mix and edible flowers.

Fresh Summer Fruit

Meyer lemons, limes and Okanagan yellow peaches.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes heirloom cherry tomatoes, Caraflex conical green cabbage, American slicing cucumber, purple scallions, spring onions, Hakurei turnips, jalapeño pepper and Costata Romanesco zucchini.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Basil, cilantro, oregano blossoms and Italian parsley from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.
