What’s In The Box? July 25-31

Sun Ripened
No matter how you pronounce it, the word ‘tomato’ practically sings of summer, as well it should as the vine-ripened beauties are now at their best. This week’s box pays homage to the ripe, juicy summer favorite with a selection of heirloom tomatoes, plus focaccia bread, our housemade Cara Cara orange vinaigrette and everything you need for a hearty baked orzo main, plus Rainier cherries, raspberries, fennel and crisp gardens greens. Also included: Ingredients for a luscious apricot cake topped with apricot-almond crumble to finish off this bright and beautiful lineup.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Heirloom Tomatoes

It’s time! The first of the local heirloom tomatoes are here, and they are just waiting to be enjoyed in your burgers, sandwiches and of course, salads. See this week’s recipes for one of our favorites of the latter, a panzanella-style showstopper simply dressed with olive oil, sea salt and pepper and topped with basil, feta and grilled hunks of focaccia. Or, try freshly-sliced tomatoes atop a hearty baked orzo!

Baked Orzo Kit

Certified organic orzo pasta and our housemade chicken stock to pair with summer produce like heirloom tomatoes.

Focaccia Bread

This soft, chewy Italian-style loaf is baked just for us by our favorite local bakery. Kissed with fragrant fresh herbs, try it simply dipped in olive oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar, or tossed into a rustic salad along with fresh heirloom tomatoes.

Fresh Raisin Bread

Made with natural starter, cinnamon and moist, chewy Flame raisins, this freshly-baked loaf is from our favorite bakery in nearby Snohomish.

Château de Campuget Costières de Nîmes 2018

This lovely white Rhône wine features a well-balanced structure, beginning with a round and fruity taste of peach and apricot, and ending on a fresh and persistent note of citrus fruits.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. As we hit midsummer, the “girls” are enjoying the long summer afternoons and accompanying warm evenings, chasing bugs and eating tasty green weeds we pull from the garden.

Cherry Valley Dairy Herbed Rose Butter

This luscious aromatic butter from Duvall-based Cherry Valley Dairy combines the dairy’s signature gray salt butter with dried herbs, rose petals and lavender for a flavor profile that wows.

F&L Cake Mix & Dried Apricot-Almond Crumble Topping

All the ingredients you need to whip up dessert: Crafted from our own signature recipe, this cake mix bakes up moist and delicious when mixed with eggs and ripe apricots—simply add the crumble topping and pop it in the oven.

Cara Cara Orange Vinaigrette

This light and bright dressing adds fresh appeal to just about any salad, made from fresh Cara Cara orange juice, honey, extra virgin olive oil and citrus-infused champagne vinegar. This week, try it tossed with roasted beets and seasonal raspberries—see recipe for details.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Mixed Butter and mini Romaine lettuces, plus escarole.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables & Fruit

This week’s produce selection also includes Chioggia beets, rainbow Swiss chard, carrots and fennel, plus apricots, Rainier cherries and Tulameen raspberries.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Italian parsley, thyme, rosemary and basil from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.
