What’s In The Box? June 10-16

Spring Color
Eat the rainbow: This week’s lineup is truly color-rich, from yellow-red Rainier cherries and pink radishes to golden German Butterball potatoes and bright Cara Cara oranges, plus a plethora of spring greens like arugula, Lacinato kale and rainbow Swiss chard, and lots of fragrant herbs. Also accompanying this brightly-hued lineup: Fairhaven Mill organic buckwheat flour, herb-kissed fromage blanc, Gruyère cheese bread and both hen’s and duck’s eggs—enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Fairhaven Mill Organic Buckwheat Flour

Nestled in the Skagit Valley, this family and farmer-owned certified-organic flour mill sources their grains from family farms across the country, guaranteeing freshness and quality from tilth to table. This particular buckwheat flour makes exceptional crepes—see recipes for details!

Gruyère Cheese Bread

Made in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this freshly-baked loaf balances rich Gruyère cheese with a light, crisp crust. Absolutely delicious toasted or re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.

Auspicion Sauvignon Blanc

Bright and lively with tropical fruit flavors and a hint of banana, this wine is crisp and refreshing, exuding the spirit of a true Californian Sauvignon Blanc.

Fromage Blanc with Fines Herbes

This wonderfully-creamy and just-slightly-tangy cheese is made from locally-sourced milk and farm-fresh Herbes de Provence.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms, our heritage breed laying hens supply us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of cream, beige and brown.

Orange Star Farm Duck Eggs

With near-transparent egg whites and color-rich oversize yolks, these local duck eggs are a chef’s dream, lending flavorful appeal to a variety of dishes.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Such a beautiful bounty of spring greens this week; enjoy arugula, pea shoots, pac choi, Lacinato kale, Little Gem lettuce, rainbow Swiss chard, radish greens and sunflower shoots.

Rainier Cherries

Fresh, seasonal Rainier cherries are here!

Seasonal Organic Vegetables & Fruit

This week’s produce selection also includes German Butterball potatoes, sweet onions, red radishes and kohlrabi, plus Cara Cara oranges.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Apple mint, green garlic, oregano and parsley from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.
