What’s In The Box? March 4-10

Gather ‘Round the Raclette
This week, gather around to share a rustic and homey meal by the way of the Swiss Alps: Traditional raclette cheese draped over farm-fresh favorites including German Butterball potatoes, smoky speck and our housemade cornichons and pickled onions. Also included: Raspberry-streusel shortbread, a medley of produce like apples, red beets and leeks, plus your own mini raclette-maker to melt that ooey, gooey cheese right at the table.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Raclette

Raclette is an intensely satisfying melted cheese dish from the Alps traditionally made over live fire, but it’s just as delicious made tableside in the Partyclette from your box. Unlike a fondue, which is a dip, the raclette cheese is melted, then draped over the accompaniments like cooked potatoes, smoky speck, cornichons and picked onions, all of which are included this week, too. See recipes for a full how-to!

Boska Holland Mini Raclette Partyclette

This handy little portable gadget will have you melting cheese in no time, and comes complete with tea lights and spatula—no plug-in necessary!

Speck

A smoky and satisfying addition for your raclette, imported from Northern Italy.

Cornichons

Our housemade cornichons are made using a traditional French recipe, crafted with Mathilde cucumbers and tarragon, with a grape leaf added to each jar during pickling to keep these petite, crunchy snacks nice and crisp.

House-Pickled Onions

Pickled onions, a classic accompaniment to raclette.

Fresh Artisan Baguette

Baked just for us at a small bakery in Snohomish, this light, airy loaf is great freshly re-warmed from the oven to serve with this week’s raclette—the trick to a great crispy crust is to sprinkle a little water on top before reheating!

Lucien Albrecht Cremant d’Alsace Brut Rosé

The flavors of this dazzling Rosé display nice strawberry and wild cherry fruit, with a touch of richness on the palate. It is balanced with dry, crisp acidity and complemented with a creamy texture and long finish.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and cream.

Raspberry-Streusel Shortbread

A fantastic little afternoon pick-me-up, these sweet treats feature sweet raspberry preserves and brown sugar-kissed streusel layered with buttery shortbread.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Early spring mixed greens.

Seasonal Organic Fruits & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes German Butterball potatoes, leeks, yellow onions, red beets, Cremini mushrooms and broccolini, plus Cara Cara oranges and a medley of apples including Pink Lady and Ginger Crisp.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Garlic, shallots, Italian parsley and thyme from the walled garden and hoophouse at Bella Luna Farms.
