What’s In The Box? May 19-25

Brunch Time
Put on a pot of coffee and perk up your taste buds with this week’s selection of spring-fresh brunch fare. Featuring organic breakfast sausages from Skagit River Ranch, Fairhaven Mills organic buckwheat flour, homey apple butter, and, of course, farm-fresh eggs from our heritage breed hens, the delivery also includes Challah bread from Snohomish Bakery, smoked cinnamon, soft, spreadable sheep’s milk cheese and snack-ready pear chips, plus such spring favorites as leeks, sunflower shoots, chive blossoms and red spring onions. Rise and shine, it’s breakfast time!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Breakfast Sausage

With a flavor profile that includes hints of sweet maple syrup and savory spices, these incredible breakfast sausage links are made from the all-natural pork raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley. These pampered pigs roam outdoors in certified-organic pasture land to root and dig, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

La Boîte Smoked Cinnamon No. 18

Add a savory note to sweet dishes with this unique smoked cassia cinnamon: Try adding a dash to your morning oatmeal, mix with raw sugar to create a fun toast topping, or put it to delicious use in French toast (see recipes for details on that last one!).

Fairhaven Mill Organic Buckwheat Flour

Nestled in the Skagit Valley, this family and farmer-owned certified-organic flour mill sources their grains from family farms across the country, guaranteeing freshness and quality from tilth to table.

Challah Bread

Baked just for us by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this fresh loaf boasts a sweet, rich flavor thanks to a traditional base of silky eggs and Shepherd’s Grain flour, plus a touch of sugar.

La Petite Perrière Rosé

Boasting a beautiful pale salmon hue, this easy-going Rosé from France is fresh and clean with a soft, silky texture, plus notes of raspberries, strawberries, red currants and violets.

Farm Fresh Eggs

As they spend more time outdoors in their run, our small flock of heritage breed laying hens are enjoying succulent popweed pulled from the gardens along with an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet, continuing to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Harmony Fields ‘Sally’s Best’ Sheep’s Milk Cheese

This soft, spreadable cheese from Bow-based Harmony Fields is made from 100-percent sheep’s milk. Similar to chevre, but with a creamier texture, the light flavor of this cheese makes it perfect for spreading on crackers or sandwiches, or it also crumbles nicely in salads and omelettes.

Allview Orchards Pear Chips

The lovely snack chips from Chelan’s Allview Orchards are crafted using a combination of alternating cold dehumidification and warm air that takes out the moisture but leaves in all the flavor, nutrition and health benefits of these fresh Flemish Beauty pears.

Housemade Apple Butter

A farmhouse favorite crafted from fresh-picked Bella Luna orchard apples, slow-cooked in a cider reduction and seasoned with brown sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon.

Fresh Organic Greens

Sunflower shoots.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection includes red spring onions, leeks and cauliflower, plus Fuji apples and Meyer lemons.

Fresh Garden Herbs

This week’s selection includes Italian parsley, thyme and chive blossoms from the herb gardens at Bella Luna.
