What’s In The Box? May 27 – June 2

Easy & Effortless
Memorial Day heralds the unofficial kick-off for summer sun and fun, and this weekend’s forecast looks summery indeed! Enjoy the long holiday weekend with super-fresh favorites like imported Italian pasta, rich, silky duck eggs, focaccia bread, and our own herb-kissed fresh cheese, all at the ready for easy and effortless fare whatever you might have planned. Also included this week: A crisp French Rosé, a plethora of spring greens including Lacinato kale, and spring produce like Hakurei turnips, asparagus, spring onions, pac choi and more.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Imported Pasta Al Ceppo

Crafted in the traditional Italian style from semolina flour and cut using Old World bronze dies, this artisanal pasta imported by Rustichella d’Abruzzo is the same size and shape as a classic cinnamon stick to closely resemble its name, which translates as “rolled by a stick”!

Focaccia Bread

This soft, chewy Italian-style loaf is baked just for us by our favorite local bakery. Kissed with fragrant fresh herbs, it is delicious served warm and dipped in olive oil.

Clos des Lumières L’éclat Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2010

This refreshing French Rosé is crafted from a medley of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvedre grapes which give the wine a very fine nose dominated by hints of strawberry, pink grapefruit cherry.

Herbed Fresh Cheese

This wonderful cheese is made from locally-sourced milk and farm-fresh herbs.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our heritage breed laying hens supply us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Orange Star Farm Duck Eggs

With near-transparent egg whites and color-rich oversize yolks, these local duck eggs are a chef’s dream, lending flavorful appeal to a variety of dishes.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Enjoy a beautiful bounty of spring greens this week: sunflower shoots, Tom Thumb mini butter and Cegolaine lettuces and Lacinato kale, plus peppery arugula.

Seasonal Organic Fruit & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes Hakurei turnips, spring onions, pac choi, asparagus, Pink Beauty radishes, plus Meyer lemons and Cara Cara oranges.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Cilantro, thyme, parsley, green garlic and apple mint from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.
