What’s In The Box? May 7-13

Mother’s Day Brunch
Show Mom some love this weekend with a fresh and easy brunch highlighted by crisp spring produce including asparagus, pea vines and tart California apricots. Serve up these seasonal favorites with an airy oven pancake topped with mixed berry preserves, smoky all-natural bacon and baked eggs accented by silky crème fraîche and herbs while Mom sits back and relaxes with a glass of Rosé. Enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

German-Style Oven Pancake Batter

Made with fresh Bella Luna eggs, butter and milk, this European-style batter creates an airy, light pancake without all the flipping! Try serving the crowd-pleaser with our housemade crème fraîche, sliced California apricots and juicy mixed berry preserves.

Housemade Crème Fraîche

Crafted in our farmstead creamery from pasteurized organic sweet cream, this rich and silky crème fraîche is delicious dolloped on this week’s oven pancake.

Mixed Berry Preserves

Our housemade jam is crafted from gorgeous, organic berries lovingly handpicked each morning during peak season. To preserve the wonderful fresh flavor and color, we make this freezer-style jam with raspberries, blackberries and strawberries, organic cane sugar, fresh-squeezed lemon juice and pectin. (That’s it!)

Double B Meats Bacon

Carefully hand-trimmed, smoked and seasoned by a local family-owned smokehouse and butcher shop, this wonderful bacon is made from all-natural, pasture-raised pork.

Fresh Cinnamon Raisin Bread

Made with natural starter cinnamon and moist, chewy Flame raisins, this freshly-baked loaf from a small bakery in nearby Snohomish makes perfect toast.

Sparkman Cellars Rosé

Crafted from grapes grown in the Columbia Valley, the refreshing ‘This Old Porch’ wine is naturally-fermented and aged in neutral barrels, lending to a very dry taste with hints of guava, melon and strawberry on the tongue.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the arrival of longer and warmer days, the “girls” spend their time enjoying the sunshine, chasing bugs, and eating all of the tasty green weeds we pull from the garden. This week, enjoy a full dozen to incorporate into a baked egg dish (see recipes for details).

Housemade Fennel Simple Syrup

Infused with the subtle licorice flavor of fresh fennel, this housemade syrup is a wonderful base for iced teas, cocktails or a refreshing brunch sipper with San Pellegrino.

Dick Taylor Craft Chocolate Bar

An extra-special treat for Mom! Crafted ‘bean-to-bar’ in their small, Northern California factory, this gorgeous chocolate bar from Dick Taylor is made from cacao sourced from the Maya mountains of Belize.

Seasonal Organic Fruits & Vegetables

This week’s produce selection includes organically-grown, first of the season California apricots, French breakfast radishes, pea vines, leek scapes, asparagus and baby red potatoes.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Bella Luna baby lettuces, plus Tom Thumb lettuce, Mizuna and purple Mustard greens from Local Roots Farm.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Organically-grown garlic, shallots, Italian parsley, chives and mint from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna.
